| Overview: | A change agent, passionate about the people side of organisational development. I'm also an L&D and internal communications specialist, working at individual, team and organisational levels. My focus is on the health, growth and success of businesses as whole systems; and my perspective incorporates: culture and behaviour change; internal brand alignment; leadership development; and coaching. | |
| 12 years consulting experience with blue-chip organisations, in addition to previous lives in marketing, publishing and advertising. An MSc in change agency (2005) has hugely informed the creativity and robustness of solutions offered to clients. What enables me to support fully my clients in realising their business goals is a combination of: - Pragmatism, intuition and emotional maturity - Excellent rapport building with employees from the frontline to the boardroom - A natural facilitative style that transfers knowledge into the client organisation - Sound theoretical underpinning of organisational and people dynamics - First-hand experience of working in the private and public sectors - Good analytical and interpretive skills and creative in solving tough problems. |
(Apr 2001 & ongoing)
During the seven years as an independent consultant my work has come from a mix of solo engagements, associate work, interim roles, and as a partner in The Ethos Group For example:
- 8 months as interim Internal Communications Manager (E.ON Retail): supported the re-brand of Powergen to E.ON; conducted communications review; improved upward feedback and dialogue with senior management; strengthened customer-focus.
- Consultancy piece to transition Powergen SME call centres in becoming more customer- and commercially oriented through role redesign.
- Delivered 5-day leadership programmes for KPMG in UK and Europe
- High performance team-building (BP)
- Strategy design to help Kingston Communications bring their brand to life through their employees.
(Dec 1999 to Mar 2001)
Together with an ex-MCA colleague I set up this new consultancy arm of ad agency AMV-BBDO.
50% of my role involved generating new business generation/sales; proposal development and pitching. Significant contracts gained with new internet enterprises. Hibernian Insurance (part of Aviva in Ireland) to merge cultures following two consecutive takeovers; and with BSkyB to audit employee satisfaction as a precursor to new HR & People Strategy work.
(Apr 1996 to Dec 1999)
A raft of client projects focusing on using communication as a lever for:
- aligning employees behind business goals
- demonstrating leaders' commitment to change
- successful deregulation in utilities company
- greater customer-focus
- innovation
- exchanging best practice.
