For the past 4.5 years I have been working for Charterhouse Communications Group, a financial publishing house, at first as a Web Developer before progressing into Development Team Leader in charge of a 5 man team. The role of my team is to design, develop and maintain all company websites and in-house software solutions. Before working at Charterhouse Communications I completed a degree in BSc(Hons) Multimedia Technology which provided me with my technical and design skills needed to succeed in a commercial web development environment. My degree also provided the opportunity to spend a year working in a commercial environment which I spent in the Web Developement and Innovations team at Carillion PLC. |
(Oct 2003 to Mar 2008)
Progressing from Web Developer, I built a team of 5 developers and designers to develop, design and maintain all company websites (http://www.ccplcwebsite.co.uk) and in-house software solutions. Reporting to the IT Director I am responsible for offering new ideas and innovative solutions to the group. Recent major projects include Company REFS which includes taking numerous data feeds from LSE and PA Business using VB.NET to publish the Company REFS product, and we are currently working a collaborative project with MSN using their Live Virtual Earth product together with AJAX technologies.
(Jan 2003 to Jun 2003)
Working 3 days a week whilst undertaking my degree, I was responsible for development of all company websites including design, coding and liaising with content owners. Also part responsible for supporting the company network which included an NT4 server with over 100 clients with remote locations around the country, a firewall and a proxy server using Leased, ADSL and ISDN lines for communicating with various applications.
(Jul 2001 to Sep 2002)
Working in the Web Development and Innovations team, my main responsibility was to redesign, redevelop and maintain the company intranet which has an audience of over 5000 users. My role also included development of online applications, supporting users, designing a monthly e-newsletter, liaising with content owners and introducing a content management system. I was also responsible for designing poster campaigns to support the launches of major online applications and promoting the intranet. I was involved in supporting the web servers, proxy server and SQL server. My role as part of the team also included introducing innovations into the company.
