Business Biography - October 2006 – to present Independent interim marketing and design consultant www.prpunch.com recent projects include Supido the development of a video game accessory targeting 16 to 35 year old males. Franchise launch for a well known industrial workwear company, and the marketing roll out of a global interactive software marine weather system. November 1990 – October 2006 - Managing Director/Owner Aston Media Ltd In his role as MD Ian developed six major brand campaigns of which three were successfully sold to larger corporates and one floated on the London stock Exchange. All included interactive membership websites and corporate events and all were built and sold on the basis of a highly effective marketing plan and exit strategy. 1, Sundeckvip - Luxury lifestyle member’s privilege club and CRM rewards program. Sundeckvip was the original and first contract luxury lifestyle members club. Developed initially for Sunseeker International Boats as a customer rewards programme the club delivered executive services for Sunseekers High Net Worth client base and included a high quality hard back 200 page members lifestyle publication and season events diary combined with an inter active on-line members club. Hugely successful for 9 years Sundeck paved the way for luxury publishing and many on line concierge clubs trading today such as Quintessentially. Ian sold his interest in sundeckvip in August 2006 following a restructure of the business during its Nine year lifespan Sundeck achieved revenue of over £4.8 million in membership and advertising sales and introduced over 400 International luxury brands to the sundeckvip privilege card rewards program network. 2, National Quizalympics 2002 – Touring gameshow in association with The Mirror Group. The National Quizalympics was the largest participation quiz in the UK and was funded by premium rate telephone entry and National sponsors; Successful Nationwide marketing generated over £650,000 in revenue. Touring the country throughout November 2002 the event took in ten major cities as well as being featured on Challenge TV. Gameshow rites were developed with several production companies who encompassed the idea which led to “Test the Nation”. The rites to Quizalympics Trade Mark and brand were successfully sold to a leading television media company. 3, The Sun Goalstriker Kick for Million Penalty Challenge 2000 – Touring penalty shootout game in association with News International. Goalstriker was a life size interactive penalty shootout game being developed for theme parks and entertainment centres around the globe. Aston Media were commissioned to launch the brand throughout Europe being given the brief Ian developed the idea of a touring roadshow offering real time players the opportunity to win £1million by producing three perfect penalty kicks. The idea was then presented to the The Sun Newspaper and Bravo TV offering them the potential to become media partners, the presentation pitch was successfully endorsed by both companies and “The Sun Kick for a Million Challenge” successfully toured the UK throughout the summer of 2000. Successful marketing led to the acquisition of our main Sponsor BT who invested £400,000 in the roadshow. The promotion ran in conjunction with a Sun voucher offer book, and the campaign generated £2.2 million in active player revenues plus advertising and sponsorship revenue in addition to successfully launching the Sunsport website. Goalstriker was subsequently floated on the AIM market and Ian sold his 35% interest in 2004 4, Diary for the Porsche Driver The idea of a 50th anniversary commemorative publication was presented to Porsche motor cars who embraced the concept of a luxury lifestyle publication and events diary combined together in one publication for the first time. A successful marketing campaign produced over £420,000 in book sales and advertising revenue and the title is to this day a sought after collectors item for Porsche enthusiasts. 5, Golf the Scientific Way To deliver and market a golf consumer publication endorsing the technology that has revolutionised the game “Golf the Scientific Way” became a milestone consumer publication presenting the development in golf technology for the benefit and use of the club golfer. Sourcing the editor Alastair Cochran of the Royal and Ancient GC and marketing the brand as the first “behind the scenes” consumer publication the end result was highly respected and endorsed by many leading golf celebrities of the time and is still on sale today. The publication generated £365,000 in sponsorship sales and over £120,000 in consumer book sales and the rites were sold to a leading media sports publisher in the US. 6. Cosmetics and Toiletries Manufacture Worldwide – Trade b2b Publication Developed by Ian whilst the Sales and Marketing Director at Century Press, CTMW is still at the forefront of cosmetic publishing and was successfully sold to Wilmington Press in 2004 along with the website cosmeticbusiness.com for £1.6 million. Through successful marketing CTMW generated over £3.5 million in global subscription, advertising and book sales mostly from EMEA and the USA. August 1988 - October 1990 - Sales and Marketing Director Century Press In the position of sales and marketing Director Ian led a 35 strong sales team and also developed his own b2b publication CTMW which he later purchased from Century Press when the company closed to merge with Harrington Kilbride, now known as Highbury House Communications PLC. Summary Ian’s understanding of marketing, brand development, direct sales and brand communication is in perfect harmony with the current business climate. He has a full working knowledge and successful track record in all aspects of both new and old media. Ian is computer literate in all the current industry standard marketing and design software. Working closely with brand police and agencies for blue chip companies such as Porsche, BT, Procter and Gamble, Ferretti Yachts and Sunseeker International Ian has acquired vast experience in successfully developing proven marketing, sales and exit strategy plans plus the implementation of Joint ventures and affinity marketing to achieve company goals and targets.
