CV

For seven years I have been working in a variety of industries in mainly technical roles developing software for clients on a small to medium scale. Majority of projects have been web applications or web services. Predominantly using Microsoft technologies such as .NET 2.0 framework (2.0) and SQL Server 2005 (and 2000). Most of my experience lies in designing and developing software, technical analysis, requirements gathering, task delegation, coding, testing and deploying.

Employment History

(Mar 2005 & ongoing)

System Analyst / Software Architect

Worcester, UK

Since joining Scout Solutions, my main role has been developing the new core framework of our core business product. My duties have been involved in designing a multi-tiered framework of loosely coupled components that can be tailored to differing client’s requirements. The solution is fully object orientated, and we have used .NET 2.0 framework, Spring framework and nhibernate data access technologies for the Business and Data Access Layers. The solution is close to delivery.

I took a lead role in designing three of ten components and overseeing the design on the entire framework. The company uses Enterprise Architect as its design tool. My duties also included developing business logic and unit testing in two further sizeable components. I also manage our SMS and Data imports (SQL Server 2000/05) for many of our client’s sites, which exposed me extensively to XML and XSLT technologies. I am currently furthering my Microsoft certification. My role has also been diverse as well to include account management of two clients for four month periods each, in a system analyst capacity. I also have been actively involved in the development of the company’s social awareness and responsibility.

(Oct 2001 to Feb 2005)

Development Manager (from 07/2003) and Web Developer

Birmingham, UK

Initially my role at Isis was web developer working in small teams, typically of 2 to 5 people. My role involves working on business-to-business web solutions, predominantly using ASP, ASP.NET (.NET 1.0) and SQL Server 2000 technology. Since starting with ISIS, I have undergone extensive training in ASP.NET using C#, which culminated in the design, implementation and delivery of a business-to-customer e-commerce solution. I achieved Microsoft certifications including MCP 70-315 whilst in this role. In the last year and a half with the company I moved into account management of two clients, and looking after development work on two other medium scale web applications.

(Oct 2000 to Sep 2001)

Software Engineer

Marconi Software Solutions, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, UK

I joined the company in the role of graduate software engineer. During my time at Marconi I worked on several projects. These projects required rapid application development and were conceived and delivered on a two to three month timescale. I was involved in n-tier solutions based on front-end ASP interface, business logic written in VB-COM and a SQL Server 7 back-end database. I also have undergone several training programs and courses including a graduate professional development program, C and C++ language courses, as well as UML and OO design methods. I left Marconi due to well-publicised job insecurity and limited future career opportunity.

Education

(Oct 1997 to Sep 2000)

Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine

I studied for a Ph.D in the field of Atmospheric Physics. I am using satellite data to analyse long-term variations in the middle atmosphere. The work involved data processing and computer modeling. Most of the work involves writing complex programs in C and Fortran-77 and a variety of other tools in a Unix environment. I submitted the Ph.D thesis in September 2001.

(Oct 1993 to Jul 1997)

University of Leicester

I achieved a 2.1 honours degree in MPhys Physics with Astrophysics
