As Senior Planning Engineer 1 am responsible for preparation, monitoring and reporting on contract plans for these projects

The planning, which is carried out using Artemis 7000 Unix, is developed in two distinct halves, onshore and offshore. The onshore planning is related to the preparation of engineering design safety and quality documentation, logistics and welding / NDT strategy in line with the client's contractual requirement

The offshore planning, which is far more critical due to the massive revenue bias as well as vessel management

issues, is planned by the hour and contains detailed interfacing between the pipelay vessel and Its support craft as well as interfaces with the client's other construction activities.

As the Solitaire is a new vessel she is still undergoing completion works and modifications and 1 have undertaken several offshore assignments to plan these works. These activities involve complex management of resource due to

the limitations of available bed spaces on the vessel as well as working around the problems associated with completing the vessel while she is in production.

1 have also been responsible for the planning of emergency repair works to the vessel following major storm damage while operating in the North Sea.

1 addition to my planning role 1 have undertaken Artemis development projects to enhance the budget contro capabilities of the corporate planning software.

Employed by Mowlem as Senior Planning Engineer at their Bromborough offices where the business activities are split into three primary groups, Process, Power and Environment with project values typically ranging from £1 m to £20.

I was responsible for preparation of bid plans for tendering and for progress monitoring and reporting on live projects using Primavera P3 and Artemis 7000. Employed as Senior Planning Engineer on a conversion of an 80,000 tonne bulk freight carrier into a

sub‑sea pipe laying vessel for Allseas Engineering BV in the Netherlands.

1 was initially responsible for designing and maintaining a fast track planning system for scheduling and monitoring the Engineering design phase of the project. The role included defining multi‑discipline manning requirements, work scheduling to meet the demands of a heavily overlapped construction programme and progress reporting.

Detailed planning, for use at the workface, was carried out using Primavera Suretrak while corporate reporting and efficiency monitoring is carried out using Artemis 7000.

1 was responsible for making presentations to our own management and the client's representatives at all levels and for preparation of all periodic reporting.

Following significant completion of the construction phase 1 took on the role of planning the 'putting t

Planning Software Developer & Senior Planning Engineer May 1993 Until February 1996

Contracted to National Power plc, Project Development & Construction Division, based in Swindon but

spending extended periods resident at their Little Barford and Deeside CCGT construction sites,

Initially recruited to enhance the Artemis 9000 mainframe planning system. Six months spent carrying out a major upgrade to the user interface and graphical reporting capabilities of the application.

Upon completion, 1 was seconded to the Little Barford construction team as site planning co‑ordinator on a £200m CCGT power station project. While at Little Barford 1 was Responsible for representing NP interests, at all levels, in meetings with the main contractor GEC Alsthom and for the verification of progress associated with stage payment approval. 1 was subsequently employed as Planning Engineer on a number of projects associated with Power Plant modifications and research plant installations. 1 also carried out post construction reviews on problem CCGT sites as Deeside and Killingholme.

In addition to planning and software development 1 was responsible for user training and system

administration.

Working in the Engineering Services Department where 1 was employed in the development of Project

Management software using Artemis 9000. My initial projects were associated with engineering design,

budget monitoring and procurement planning at the Knutsford design headquarters. However, as

emphasis shifted to the construction site 1 was more often involved in the creation of utilities to enable the

site planning group to monitor construction progress. For several months 1 was based at the Sizewell 'B'

construction site where, besides application development, 1 was responsible for training and

familiarisation.

My final year was spent with Future Projects Division where 1 was responsible for developing new software systems for planning the next generation of PWR power stations.
