CHIEF EXECUTIVE, THE MEDIA CENTE EUROPE (Berlin, Barcelona, Munich and Milan): 1999-2007

Executive and entrepreneurial leadership (as well as founder and major shareholder) of the leading Centres for innovative media and communications businesses:-
• Sustained strategic and business development of a cutting-edge TME business - combined business enabler and technology springboard - from establishing the initial Centre in the heart of London’s West End through to five large Centres across Europe at its peak (each a city block).
• Senior collaborative hands-on involvement (internal strategic consultancy and implementation resource) with some of the most innovative and successful new TME businesses of the last decade, from the launch of the likes of Extreme, BBC Interactive, UPC and Ask (the search provider) through to work on the realization of internet TV and 3G mobile content applications.
• ‘Bottom line’ responsibility for a business with annual net income of £13.5 million, sustained high profitability and assets of £115 million; as such, on-going senior management of a sophisticated, multi-disciplinary customer-led TME business, ensuring that motivated staff, resources and systems worked well together.
• Direct responsibility for all marketing and major client retention, with leading clients from across the TMT spectrum: underpinned by a depth and breadth of expertise in the TMT sectors (B2C and B2B): the underlying technology; production and origination; rights & licensing; diverse distribution; and the particular businesses.
• Development and delivery of a state-of-the-art integrated communications network and media infrastructure together with property and media/communications facilities development: design, acquisitions, development, planning issues, project management and operational management of multiple large facilities.
• All aspects of finance and data analysis (collectively a particular strength). This includes excellent numerical analysis, from market appraisals through to praised business modeling skills; applied business finance, from systems and procedures to formal accounts; and corporate finance for TMT businesses, including both the diverse types of funding (VC to debt) and experience of the full investment cycle (sourcing to realization).
• Applied commercial, media and communications law, including extensive formulation and drafting of licenses and contract documentation (often covering new types of commercial media/communications arrangements).
• Corporate/business affairs: investor and stakeholder relations; Board reporting and executive leadership; company presentation and PR; and investor and bank negotiations/relations.

TOGETHER WITH: CHIEF EXECUTIVE (Pro-tem), ELYSIUM MEMORIAL PARKS: 2006- 2008
A public-private initiative, undertaken for public service reasons, to regenerate of facilities for the deceased (there is a crisis). Responsibilities: strategy and development of the scheme; securing public and private commitments and stakeholder involvement; overseeing design through to implementation; financial planning and modeling etc.

Entrepreneurial and management leadership of the modest media group, from scratch to embrace:-
• Rewind Productions Ltd – successful independent producer (all BBC networks and others, from C4 to the Red Cross), including extensive creative credits and awards (drama through to documentaries).
• Radio First Plc - Offex listed owner and operator of three ILR radio stations.
• Oasis Studios – successful recording studio (including D-Ream, The Doves AC/DC and Sacred Spirit).

IN ADDITION: Chairman of RADIO for 2 years, the radio producer trade body.
Member of the DTI/DTH Advisory Committee on Future Broadcasting.

Strategic development, project management and change implementation for TMT businesses, particularly the development of new cutting edge media and communications businesses/strategic initiatives, including:-
• Star TV (Hutchinson Television) - senior strategic and project management for US$2 billion new satellite TV & cable launch, now the world's largest television audience. 18 months in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
• NBC Network Television – highly successful strategic transformation/re-structuring in response to the advent of multi-channel TV. 14 months in New York.
• AsiaSat/Arab Sat – commercial implementation for major integrated TME deployment.
• Ascom – applications and commercial service design for remote mobile and location satellite service.
• UK cable & satellite technology/TV – expansion implementation; project management; consolidation and numerous license applications (clients including Sky, BSB, BT and then leading cable companies, now NTL)

Management consultancy, including: The Children's Channel (strategy and business development); Trillion Plc (and Limehouse Studios; re-structuring and re-financing); BT Vision (M & A identification and appraisals)

Advisory and corporate finance work for media and communications companies; including EMI (re-structuring), Music Sales (M & A) , EuroMoney (listing) and Oracle (product design & tariffs).

CREATIVE: PRODUCTION BY PRODUCTION EMPLOYMENT
Directing productions for the Young Vic, Horseshoe and Wireworks theatre companies and writing two professional plays, together with one of the first pop videos (for "Blondie") and a TV adaptation for Yorkshire TV.
