CV

In 1977 I left Newport College of Art with a BA Hons in Publicity Design after which I set up a graphic design partnership in Gloucestershire under the name of Wright Brothers.

In 1988 I took the post of Art Director at Robertson Advertising in Edinburgh, being responsible for the majority of 'below the line' material that went through the agency.

I became Senior Designer at Lewis Design in 1989 in Galashiels (later to move to Edinburgh). Here I handled a vast array of design briefs, producing solutions for a range of information and promotional print requirements.

Since I set up my consultancy in April 2008 I have been handling all forms of design for print as well as providing a photo-manipulation and illustration service to design agencies.

Employment History

(Apr & ongoing)

Proprietor

Edinburgh

Since April 2008, my consultancy has been handling all forms of design for print as well as providing a photo-manipulation and illustration service to design agencies.

(Aug 1989 to Nov 2007)

Senior Designer

Lewis Design, Edinburgh

During my term at Lewis Design in Galashiels I played a key role in the success and development of the company and became instrumental in winning the confidence of major clients such as Burberrys of London and Forward Group plc.

In the main my duties were to provide creative concepts, then to take them through to finished artwork, handling any necessary photo retouching or illustrative work. I also gained experience working with photographers whilst art directing shoots.

The work included corporate identities, brochures, leaflets, annual reports and newsletters, as well as designs for small exhibitions.

At Lewis I gained extensive experience using a Mac. As the company always sought to keep up-to-date with the lastest hardware and software, I developed a working knowledge of Quark Xpress 7, Adobe Illustrator CS3, Adobe Photoshop CS3 plus other support software.
