Responsible for the repair and refurbishment of over 100 Epson products, ranging from printers to digital cameras and projectors. The role was direct support for the entire Epson (UK) and European service operation. Key activities are customer 1-day repair turn around time and rapid introduction of new products to the repair portfolio. Daily tasks regularly involve demand switching, stock control, liaison with customer call centre, key customers and UK/European head office management to rapidly implement service requirements. Key skills are knowledge of QA, CS and product regulation/ health and safety regulations.
Personal Achievements include:
1 Setting up of a new department from zero i.e. recruitment of more than 60 personnel (Technical and non-Technical), agreement of customer SLA's and realisation of physical work environment.
2 Agreement and introduction of first ever in-Company Flexi-hours working system, allowing quick reaction to changing customer demand
3 Highest in Seiko Epson group TAT of high value products, consistently 90% 1 day repair rate. Also achievement of Seiko Epson Group Grand Prize Award for Customer Service.
4 Pioneering of new repair methods involving the re-use of recycled parts, saving around 30% on Parts cost.
5 30% efficiency up during FY03 by introduction of Kaizen teams to implement repair method and workplace improvements.

Production Manager - PCB Assembly

Responsible for Quality, Cost, Delivery, Morale and Safety aspects of a fast moving printed circuit board production environment with a target of 2000+ circuit boards per day to supply a busy internal printer assembly operation.
The department comprised a continental shift operated surface mount section, consisting of a skilled team of Panasonic trained Engineers and Technicians, supplying a dedicated day team of hand assembly operators.
Personal Achievements include:
1 Big drive on cost competitiveness resulted in 10% reduction, the lowest seen Unit cost per product, through efficient control of consumables and labour costs.
2 Led the eventual closure of this facility due to strong Asian affiliate competition resulting in handling of around 60 persons relocation or redundancy terms. Gained experience of strong people management skills in this area.
3 Asset disposal and negotiation of machine decommissioning and sale.

Senior Engineer (Quality) then Quality and Environmental Manager (1994 - 2000 )
Reason for leaving: Progression
Initially started in an inspection role, progressed rapidly through Quality and Technical Engineer working on new product introductions, to Senior Specialist Engineer and then Quality and Environmental Manager. This role involved managing a small team focussed on system related aspects of the company and included extensive communication and project planning throughout the organisation, as well as overseas visits to consult at affiliate companies.
Personal Achievements include :
1 5 years experience of a rolling cycle of Supplier Audits and supported Technical Parts approval process on-site. Extensively travelled around the UK and Europe to maintain supplier control and parts supply to pressured deadlines.
2 Championed and implemented common Japanese management tools i.e. TQC (TQM), Kaizen and 5S of workplace organisation from zero knowledge to the first company outside Japan to win the TQC Grand Prize.
3 Major player in obtaining ISO 9002, as the first Seiko Epson company globally to do so. This was repeated again during 1995 as the group pioneering company to achieve ISO 14001 (Environmental Management). After this acted in a consultancy role for Japanese and European Group Companies.
4 Participated in a team-based review of cross-company organisational structure (BPR) resulting in significant cost saving opportunities.
5 Led key environmental projects over 5 years i.e. Energy reduction (30% down), Waste Reduction (20% down and Zero Landfill) and 100% Green Purchasing (substance elimination and Packing reduction)
6 Completed full Environmental Impact Assessment of two UK sites and four other European Sales headquarters, leading to full European ISO 14001 certification within 2 years.
