MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS

Part of Management Team drawing up Installation Specifications for FTN Project. Some of these Specifications became Network Rail Specifications for Telecommunications Works.

In conjunction with Bill Garner and Diane Thornber of New Recruitment Company, and two Network Rail colleagues I managed the identification and recruitment, and training of all Project Management and Site Management staff for FTN Project.

Identified, costed, and negotiated contracts for Nationwide Office Accommodation for FTN Project.

Achieved 500,000 working hours without a reportable (RIDDOR) or lost time accident as Project Manager for Network Rail working with AMEC on the Network Rail GSM-R National Telecoms Project.

2004 O'Connor Utilities Ltd - PROJECT MANAGER

Operational and financial responsibility for managing trunk route installation both Civils & Cabling and jointing works for several Telecoms clients including Fibernet, Your Communications, Kingston Communications and Vtesse.

2002 - 2004 Network Rail - PROJECT MANAGER - GSM-R Telecoms Project

£900m project to install GSM network throughout national rail network. Responsible for delivery of project in Strathclyde area, 560km of route, 88 GSM masts, 25 fixed Network Core & Access Nodes and 100 Public Electricity Supplier installations. Managed £30m budget and the three main contractors AMEC, Laing O'Rourke Waterland and Alfred McAlpine. Project completed on time and within budget.

2001 - 2002 FLAG Telecom Ltd - BACKHAUL PROJECT MANAGER

$900m Submarine & Terrestrial cable network installation project to provide connectivity on 160 wavelengths at 10gb/s between Hong Kong, Japan, Tiawan and South Korea and onwards on global FLAG submarine network. Managed the procurement & negotiation of commercial and technical T&C's along with purchasing, installation, testing and commissioning of DWDM, SDH and all ancillary equipment from suppliers.

1999 - 2000 Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe - PROJECT MANAGER

Managed and successfully completed on time civils, sub-duct and fibre cable installation and oversaw all testing of fibre cable installed. Responsible for Level 3 communications London to Reading section of Fibre Trunk Route installation from London to Lands End (this connected to L3 Project Yellow Transatlantic multi terabit cable). Previously responsible for Level 3 communications working on many of the busiest locations in Central London.

1997 - 1999 NTL - Site Supervisor

Managed civils works on several major Installation Projects. Also supervised fibre cabling, sub-duct installation and Fibre testing.

1998 Optical Technology Training Ltd

Obtained City & Guilds in Single Mode Fibre Optics/Fusion Splicing Advanced OTDR Testing

1996 - 1997 McNicholas Construction Ltd - Site Agent

Managed civils gangs carrying out installation works for clients including Telewest, Energis and NTL.

1994 - 1996 ARM Utility Services Ltd - Site Agent

Managed civils teams and programmed civils works on BT Underground Duct Term Maintenance Contract.
