Apprentice Electrical Fitter

I served a 4 year indentured apprenticeship as an electrical fitter with John Payne Engineering, whose business was the overhauling and reconditioning of cigarette making and packaging machinery. Whilst serving my apprenticeship I attended Eastleigh Technical college where I gained the following qualifications:

* City an Guilds 236 Part one and two

* TEC 3 (ONC) in Electrical / Electronic engineering.

Electrical Installation Engineer

I was promoted on finishing my apprenticeship to electrical installation engineer. I traveled all over the world for periods up to three months as part of a team installing and commissioning cigarette packing and making machinery. This also involved training local personal on the operation and maintenance of the control system. I also spent six months in China setting up an electrical department with local personnel for rebuilding and refurbishing tobacco machinery.

Electrical Design Engineer

Involved in the redesign of machines controlled with conventional relay logic control using PLCs and AC inverter drives to improve performance and productivity. The scope of work involved redesigning panel layouts, Circuit diagrams and PLC programming.

1990-1992 Pyramid Installation Systems Andover Hants

Senior Electrical Engineer.

Involved in the design of relay logic and PLC control panels for the control of tobacco processing equipment both reconditioned and new. The scope of work included circuit diagrams, Control panel layouts PLC programming and installation and commissioning of tobacco processing equipment.

In 1992 the company went into administration and was bought out by a Dutch company itm (international tobacco machinery).

1992 - 1999 ITM Primary UK Ltd Andover Hants

Senior Electrical Projects Engineer.

During my time working for ITM I have run numerous projects and have been involved in control panel design using Siemens and Allen Bradley PLC systems. Ranging from simple stand alone control panels to complete factory automation systems with full graphical control and networking. I have also installed and commissioned several Tobacco plants and machines in Hungary, Russia, Jordan, Rumania, Vietnam and most recently Peru. Approximately two years ago itm moved the project control center from England to its manufacturing facility in Poland.

Project Manager.

The position involves running projects involved with the company's tobacco side of business. My main responsibilities were customer liaison, project planning and ensuring delivery times were met. The position involves running teams of engineers from customer order to delivery, installation and commissioning of a project.

August 2000 - February 2001 Munchy Wallingford Oxon International Service Engineer.

The duties include testing extrusion Machinery with customer material and Installation / Commissioning of the machinery overseas. This included setting up AC and DC drives and fault finding on PLC and HMI systems.

February 2001- Dec 2003 Aeromatic-Fielder Eastleigh Hants Commissioning and Qualification Engineer.

My duties include Installation, Commissioning and Qualification of pharmaceutical mixing and drying machines this includes filling in and running IQ and OQ test plans, Loop checking of electrical circuits, Calibration of instrumentation and fault finding on PLC systems. Mainly Siemens S7 with OP37 screens. This has also included SCADA systems with 21CFR 11 compliance. The role also included fault finding on Pneumatic systems.

Jan 2004 -Aug 2004

Installation Manager.

Duties include preparation and supervision of the company's installation projects. This also includes commissioning of software and electrical testing of the installations to 16th edition of the IEE Regulations. The role mainly involved installing and commissioning conveyor systems in food manufacturing plants using siemens S7 PLC s

Controls and Instrumentation Manager.

Duties include supervision of subcontractors, Design and testing of purified water plant. Writing FDS,SDS,FAT and SAT documents. The role also includes supporting the sales staff by producing quotations and visiting customers to discuss requirements. Commissioning PLC control equipment and Instrumentation.

April 2006-Present Exitech Limited

Commissioning Engineer

Duties include writing and testing PLC software to control pneumatic systems on laser machining tools. The role involves traveling to customer sites abroad to commission the machines and control systems.
