CURRENT ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Looking after numerous teams of expertise, Technical Personnel, Delivery Managers, Supervisors, Commercial staff, numerous Gangs of manpower, in all approximately 60 members of staff.

Value of the section of the current contract for which I am responsible is @ £35 - 40 Million.

Compiling / Producing documentation for Bid tenders.

Producing Specifications as per the Clients Requests.

Validating Client driven specifications to ensure correctness for costing purposes.

Advising the Client on the best solution for problems.

Responsible for ensuring all activities are in compliance with Railway Safety Case, Contractors Assurance Case and all subordinate company standards and procedures.

Ensure as far as reasonably practical the health, safety and welfare of all employees within my control, including other members of Staff and Contractors working on or visiting Sites.

Responsible for leading, directing and monitoring of all staff within the Project Team to ensure the completion of the programme of project work in a safe and cost affective manner.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining communication channels within the business streams and briefing on all Production / Quality / Safety and Environmental issues to the members of my staff.

Produce Construction Budgets for renewals items in conjunction with the Commercial Team.

Monitor work progressed against programme, specification and budget. Initiate corrective actions and raise variation orders / claims.

Responsible for managing and checking track Vertical / Horizontal Designs, ensuring all documentation is compliant to CDM, highlighting and controlling Site Specific Risks.

Responsible for ensuring that adequate and competent resources are available to deliver contracts within my control, which includes Sub-contractors, other disciplines, Plant companies, Engineering trains and Possession Management.

Responsible for ensuring reports from numerous sites are accurate and detailed sufficiently to be used to produce Production, Quality and Commercial documentation following Core Renewals work.

Responsible for the management of staff which includes recruitment, promotion, discipline, motivation, rostering, appraisals and identification of all training requirements.

Responsible for alerting Senior Management to any non-conformance or deficiencies in quality, materials, services or workmanship.

Deputise for the Operation Director as required.

Ensure compliance with "Management of Working Hours".

To ensure best value is achieved from all sub contractors and suppliers.

Validation of the Clients Specifications, Site assessments for job tenders.

Chairing all levels of Discussions, progress reviews, Site meetings and Disciplinary Hearings.

Educating and leading by example.

On-Call for 1 weekend in 4.

Carrying out technical site duties at weekends when shortfalls of staff or sickness occur.

1999 Centrac - Transferred to the Norwich Depot as the Project Managers Assistant.

1998 Promoted to a Senior Lead Engineer for the out-based Special Projects section of Centrac, reporting direct to the Project Manager in the Design and Construct Contract.

1996 Joined Centrac Ltd, for promotion to a Lead Engineer.

1995 Promoted to Principle Technical Officer.

1994 Promoted to Senior Technical Officer

1991 Joined Railway Industry (BR)

Technical Officer for the Track Renewals section in Doncaster.
