Becoming a graduate in chemical engineering has developed my skills in presenting technical knowledge, judgement and ability in critical analysis. I am a very highly motivated, enthusiastic and a conscientious young man always aiming for high standards, furthermore having pursued the IChemE program to acquire CEng status. Whilst working within busy environments, having good communication skills, being well organised, punctual and honest at all times it has given me the knowledge to be a co-operative team member and have proven ability to work autonomously. I have developed good problem solving skills through previous employment and particularly from project work undertaken at university.

BEng (Hons) Chemical Engineering (Achieved 2:2)

· Core modules were: separation processes, transfer processes, project management, reaction engineering, energy efficiency and process design.

· Gained vital skills in group work, team management, planning and leadership: in particular for the design project, there was a section of work entirely consisting of group effort, here planning and management was crucial.

· Development of essential problem solving skills from undertaking project work.

· Final year project: the creation of an oxo-alcohol plant and the detailed design of a distillation column: mass & energy balance, mechanical & chemical design, HAZOP / HAZAN, safety and loss prevention, materials of construction, economic appraisal, and heat transfer equipment.

· Creation of flow sheets, piping and instrumentation diagrams using engineering software such as Aspen and Visio.

· Carried out many chemical and chemistry laboratories, working on many different rigs such as cooling towers, filter presses, heat exchangers, and gas fluidised bed.

· Recording and interpretation of data and results. Most importantly cross referencing the results obtained experimentally to theoretical values to outline the accuracy of the experiment undertaken.

• Developed great understanding of principles of material flow behaviour and able to implement in equipment design.

• Assist in the creation of pharmaceutical / acid plants: mass & energy balance, mechanical & chemical design, materials of construction, heat transfer units and electrical equipment.
• Construction of schedules and specification sheets for all vessels, instruments, lines and miscellaneous items.
• Raising working & practical specification sheet to enable costing and also puchasing.

· Dealt with and serving customers, as well as making sure customer orders were processed.

· Extensive face-to-face communication with customers helped me gain confidence and gain excellent knowledge into customer service.

· Inspection and assistance of the loading of containers, making sure all safety and loading procedures are adhered to.

· Processing of shipping documents; from shipping company to consignee, by the means of faxing, emailing and writing formal letters.

· Business accounts: tabulating all invoices, sales, petty cash and cheques into spreadsheets, using Microsoft Excel.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND INTERESTS_________________________________________________________

Hall Green Cricket Team Captain April 1995 - July 1998

· Selected as a team captain, which gave me the opportunity to organise and schedule matches.

· Responsible for resolving team difficulties and individual problems on and off the pitch.

· Motivating players individually and as a team, by verbally encouraging and influencing them to achieve their maximum performance.

Other Interests

· As a member of both the IIE (Institution of Incorporated Engineers) and the IChemE (Institute of Chemical Engineers), working towards CEng status, I find a great interest in learning of new developments in the chemical industry.

· Performing self-tuition packages which were provided by the university, to ensure the development of IT and word processing skills.

· Other spare time activities involve regular badminton and swimming sessions.

Other Skills

· Computer literate with working knowledge of operating engineering software such as Aspen, CAD and Visio, Windows XP and most Microsoft software such as Excel.

· Fluent in both Urdu and Punjabi, also familiar with Arabic and Hindi.

· Good written and verbal communication: Undertaken presentations in front of audiences both at university and work (at the NEC for G.A. Shipping).

· Excellent numerical and applying good analytic techniques to data from both practical and theoretical results.

· Use time effectively to complete work required within deadlines.
