My job at Muir Matheson Ltd is very varied and as described below comprises a range of different roles. This variety is possible, as Muir Matheson Ltd is an SME of around 30 people.

Project Manager - Shell METNET 3G contract Sep 2004 to May 2006

Appointed Project Manager for the 5-year contract with Shell EPE in September 2004. Reporting directly to the Muir Matheson director and the Shell EPE Contract Owner.

Responsible for all aspects of the contract execution for Shell in the UK sector, project managing the Shell weather systems on 21 platforms. Also responsible for the marketing and project management of the project expansion into Holland and Norway. This includes the upgrade and maintenance of all Dutch and Norwegian Shell platform weather monitoring systems. (The large variation to this contract was won following my successful marketing and bidding of the work).

Responsible for the management and control of all aspects of the METNET 3G project budgets and contract requirements.

Deputy Project Manager - Shell METNET 3G contract Aug 2003-Sep 2004

Appointed Deputy Project Manager for the 5-year contract's transition face to ensure all targets are met and plans adhered to. The complex contract requires that a very structured and strict planning and control system is in place to ensure that client targets and needs are met on time and on budget.

Responsible for the continuous marketing of the company within the project, with the view to ensure project growth where possible.

Business Process Manager Role

Marketing of the company to potential and existing clients, bid work and client liaison. Front figure and first client contact at exhibitions and conferences.

Responsible for continuously identifying the ongoing business process and project requirements.

Following the development and implementation of the full QA system within the company over a 2-year period, I was responsible for and successful in getting Muir Matheson Ltd accredited to ISO 9001 in April 2002. Muir Matheson Ltd was audited by NQA.

I continued developing the QA system to implement changes to satisfy the 9000/2000 standard and was successful in achieving accreditation to 9000/2000 standard in April 2003.

Initiate and take part in management review meetings.

Control of all existing procedures and in charge of producing all new procedures.

Revise existing procedures according to needs, according to decisions made in QA Management Review or after internal audits have raised the need for change.

Responsible for ensuring ongoing company compliance and continuous improvement as set out in ISO 9001:2000.

Control all vendor appraisals, the approval of suppliers.

Develop yearly internal audit checklists and audit plans for use.

Responsible for performing all internal audits of the QA and the HSE systems and taking the company through any external QA and HSE audits.

Responsible for controlling and developing risk assessments.

MM database development and control, Microsoft Access programming Role

Develop and revise programs as needs are arising within the company.

Develop new reports and structures as required.

Develop the stock control system and implement new procedures to ensure better functionality.
