Sky Shadow III Demonstrator
Upgrade project on existing Sky Shadow countermeasures pod on Tornado platform. Headed DFM activity on analysing previous design and led improvements as product went to flight trials. Worked closely with engineering to ensure functionality of product was not affected by changes. Revised proposal beat 3 other competitors to be awarded MoD contract.
EFA DASS AIT
Trained as Green Belt in Six Sigma and integrated into project team developing and implementing an Assembly Integration and Test strategy for production of Eurofighter DASS and supported transition programme from sister site in Edinburgh. Employed lean-sigma methodologies including 5S, Kaizen, 6-Sigma and Kanban systems across the site.
Leading Edge Wing Jigs
Key member of team which built jig for Nimrod MRA4 project at BAe, Warton. The jig was built around an old Nimrod fuselage. The actual wing hydraulics was then fitted to the jig to replicate the new design. Built leading edge wing jigs for Airbus A320 and Boeing 767 at BAe, Prestwick. The manufacture of the wings then took place on-site using the jig.
Modern Apprenticeship
Leak testing on small manifolds, welded fabrications and metal pipe work using fluid or air. Worked on much larger projects helping to design and manufacture fit for purpose hydraulic rigs as well as producing designed aircraft ground equipment. Some of the larger customers of this equipment were BAe (now BAE SYSTEMS), Shorts and Westlands.
