EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

- Independent Financial Adviser (May 05 to present).

Intended as a trial year in financial services, I studied and successfully completed all qualifications required to enter a self-employed role as an adviser in investment & mortgages. I gained a great deal of customer facing sales skills and financial acumen whilst advising largely on commodities markets and specialist mortgages.

- Royal Air Force Officer - Engineer Branch (Apr 2003 to May 2005).

Following graduation from the RAF Initial Officers' Training Course - RAF College Cranwell (Nov 03), I was posted as officer in command of engineering resources and personnel at RAF Unit Goose Bay, Canada (Dec 03 to Mar 04). Responsibility included full financial management, project planning and day to day leadership of 30 personnel. Key achievements included development of a Unit EMS, continual improvement systems, successful coordination of an international training exercise, as well as site maintenance and improvement.

Repatriated to attend the RAF Officers' Engineering Specialist Training Course (Apr 04 - Sep 04) having achieved early promotion to rank of Flight Lieutenant. The Engineering Manager's Course at the Defence College of Aeronautical Engineering is an intense practical & exercise based course designed to enable officers to gain a high level of ability in all technical, quality and managerial areas required for efficient leadership of aircraft / avionic systems operation and rectification. In addition, I also updated course material and tutored students on the RAF MEng Weapon Systems Engineering Course, given previous experience gained in Guided Weapons design.

The next position I held, as a Junior Engineering Officer at RAF Leuchars, St Andrews, Fife, Scotland (Oct 04 to Mar 05) entailed management of a project designing lean techniques and business improvement strategies to streamline the required future support for the Tornado aircraft. This involved a great deal of research, travel, project planning / management (management of approximately 6 personnel and detailed customer / supplier liaison and negotiation). In addition, I deputised for several other posts including aircraft squadron roles which encompassed managerial responsibility for over 130 shift personnel / aircraft. As well leading the engineering operations team with responsibility for coordinating and planning all scheduled maintenance for the station's Tornado aircraft, engines and related specialist ground support equipment.

- Missile Systems Designer (2001 - 2003).

Missile Dynamacist, Future Concepts department, MBDA Missile Systems UK (2002 - 2003). Promoted to the position of missile dynamacist, key responsibilities were to provide complete guidance design capabilities across a range of programmes including UAVs. I personally increased my knowledge of propellants / explosives, becoming the departmental expert on Insensitive Munitions and, as a result, a contributor to related NATO Standards (STANAGS). Project management responsibility increased to leading 2-3 person teams, principally on concept modelling / airworthiness / aircraft integration / safety case type projects.

Graduate Entrant, Future Concepts department, AleniaMarconi Missile Systems (2001 - 2002). The role concerned the development of future concept weapon systems for UK and foreign customers. Extremely technical in nature, it helped to develop knowledge and skills in the computational / numerical fields of aeronautical engineering to an advanced level. Key projects included: technical lead for the design of a missile warhead & rocket motor, liaison with sub-contractors, safety case production and development of concept weapon guidance system codes.

- University Employment.

Customer Technical advisor at ADT Fire & Security PLC (2000 - 2001).

Chemical research scientist at Imperial College London, summer vacation 2000.

General assistant at Tesco Stores (1997 - 2000).
