Additional Information
Here is some further additional detail of personal interests that may help give a greater understanding of the unique skills I have at my disposal. These underline my both my mechanical and electronics ability and understanding. I feel this is important background information and I can provide references to support these skills if required.
I have been a A-class licensed Radio Ham enthusiast for over 25 years, whilst only really ever being interested in the construction and technical side of the hobby, I have been commercially repairing and servicing all types of Motorola two way radio equipment for 5 years or more (In my spare time). I have built relations within the UK with Motorola agents who send to me regularly 8-10 radios a week for service and repair. I own a huge array of electronic test equipment that allows the fault finding and rework to component level of the latest two way sets, multilayered PCBs with high density SMD components using both hot air and traditional rework equipment. Familiar in the use of test equipment such as signal generators, RF test sets oscilloscope, counters and logic analysers, as well as the understanding and functional interpretation of schematics and block diagrams. Locally known as 'Mr-Fix-it' there is very little in the electronics/electro-mechanical line that I can't turn my hand to. Whether it is Radio, TV, VCRs, Computers, and other industrial/domestic appliances. I have always found these to be great skills to possess!
Hobbies over the years have included building four cylinder sports motorcycles, rebuilding engines, transmissions and basic performance tuning. I have rebuilt and tuned eight cylinder Chevy Short Block engines used in the UK Range Rover and Land Rover 4x4 vehicles. I have full Technician qualifications for Automotive Air Conditioning fault finding and repair, owning all the equipment to carry out this type of work.
As a family we have all enjoyed 4x4 off roading and various other forms of Motor Sport as real enthusiasts. It goes without saying that I have quite a familiarity and understanding of automotive electrical systems too. Power boats have always been something that I would have loved to get into, with a little luck this could be a revived interest!
