As Managing Director of Controltec Ltd. my responsibility was to head a company team of eighteen personnel. Our team objective was to provide a quality service within the electrical automation industry generally within the food and drink environment. My varied role included managing all aspects of a small business together with managing our inter-departmental segments to include: administration, sales & purchasing, customer support, PLC software and programming, electrical site installations and in house manufacture of control panels and associated machine control.

As one of three founder Directors in 1991, my initial role was to assist the Managing Director in the set up of the company establishing workable company structures and systems. I was principally involved in the instigation of I.T. systems within the company. Once the company was reasonably established, I then took on a more technical role in the control & automation side of the business, designing control systems and PLC programming with Mitsubishi Medoc, Allen Bradley SLC500 and Omron packages. As a Director, I also carried out company sales and promotional activities.

My duties at this company was to manufacture, wire and install electrical control systems for Materials handling systems and other bespoke machinery for mainly the food and drink sector. This would involve mainly hands on installations and control panel manufacture.

Responsible to the company director I was charge hand over half a dozen electrical operatives carrying out general electrical services and installations to the commercial and domestic sectors.

Wiring of public houses, schools, shopping malls and residential establishments. I was also the company champion for control panel fault finding in boiler houses or any of the above establishments which had automated systems.
