2006: Foster Wheeler

Project HSE Manager: PMC of Borouge Petrochemical Project (ADNOC / Borealis, Abu Dhabi). Key Responsibilities include:

ˇ Management of design HSE reviews (HAZID / HAZOP / SIL reviews, QRA, COMAH, environmental, occupational health, etc) for a number of preliminary design contractors;

ˇ Management of the contractor responsible for the HSE Impact Assessment Permit; and

ˇ Preparation of HSE standards / procedures for EPC contracts

2005 Bechtel / Sinopec / Foster Wheeler Joint Venture

Utilities Commissioning HSE Lead: PMC of Nanhai Petrochemical Project (CNOOC / Shell Chemicals, China). Key Responsibilities included:

ˇ Development of commissioning HSE plans, (environmental, permitting, tagout/lockout, etc) for commissioning and start-up of boilers and gas turbine;

ˇ Part of the PMC / Shell Chemicals team ("Authorised Engineer") that implemented the Shell Permit to Work system for operations; and

ˇ Review and audit of engineering HSE (HAZOP, HEMP, environmental, noise, hazardous area classification, ergonomics, etc) for Steam and Power Project in preparation for client Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR). Focus is on "Is Plant Safe to Operate".

2002-2004 Bechtel / Sinopec / Foster Wheeler Joint Venture

Utilities HSE Lead (Engineering and Construction): PMC of Nanhai Petrochemical Project (CNOOC / Shell Chemicals, China). Key responsibilities included:

ˇ Led the field construction safety programme for the PMC team managing construction of 6 utility units (water purification, incinerators and effluent treatment systems);

ˇ 3 EPC Contractors with peak workforce circa 1200 people. Duties involved mobilisation of EPC contractors, scaffold inspection tank erection, heavy lifts, equipment installation, steel structures to 80m, electrical safety and general field safety. Achieved 4 million manhours without Lost Time Incident; and

ˇ Review and audit of engineering HSE (HAZOP, HEMP, environmental, noise, hazardous area classification, ergonomics, etc) for 3 EPC Contractors (Water & Effluent Plants, Liquid Incinerator, and Solid Incinerator).

2002 Foster Wheeler

Project Lead Environmental Engineer: EPC of Goldeneye Gas Plant (Shell Expro, Scotland). Key responsibilities included:

ˇ Lead the environmental programme during the EPC of Shell Expro Gas Plant.

ˇ BAT assessment, environmental compliance, permit/planning submissions to regulatory agencies; and

ˇ Set up Jobsite environmental programme.

2001-2002 Bechtel / Sinopec / Foster Wheeler Joint Venture

Project Lead Environmental Engineer: PMC of Nanhai Petrochemical Project (CNOOC / Shell Chemicals, China). Key responsibilities included:

ˇ Lead the environmental programme during the Basic Engineering Package (BDEP) of a large petrochemical complex;

ˇ Responsible for developing the Project environmental standards and audit of design of several sub-contractors to ensure compliance with World Bank and Chinese standards (emissions to air, water, solid waste and noise);

ˇ Part of team that obtained the Chinese environmental engineering permit and involved in obtaining approval from Banks for the Project Environmental and Social Impact assessment (World Bank Standards) and

ˇ Set up of construction environmental programme.

1998 - 2000 Entec UK (part of Ondeo - Suez Lyonaise)

Senior HSE Consultant: Environmental and Risk Management Group. Key responsibilities included:

ˇ Carrying out HSE reviews for several industrial including oil and gas, incineration and government agencies; and

ˇ Design safety (HAZOP, risk assessment, COMAH safety cases), environmental pollution prevention and control (PPC) and environmental permit applications to government agencies

1996 - 1998 Adrian (EO) Ltd, London. Technical Co-ordinator, Colnbrook Site

Adrian Ltd manufactured a wide range of chemicals used for perfumes and food. Responsible for carrying out occupational health reviews. In particular, carried out Occupational Health / Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessments for over 200 chemicals including a range of harmful and toxic materials.

1992 - 1996 Centre for Environmental Research, University of Limerick, Ireland

ˇ PhD Research into the chemistry, adverse effects, formation within incinerators and abatement techniques of nitrogen oxides and chlorinated hydrocarbons with particular reference to dioxins.

ˇ The development of catalysts, which simultaneously reduced oxides of nitrogen and oxidised chlorinated hydrocarbons.
