Reason for leaving this role: I left this role because I was looking for career progression. I had the option to progress further into Management so felt the time was right to take this step.

· Manage obsolete and excess materials whilst maintaining suitable inventory levels.

· Assist and develop junior members of the team to improve their job knowledge and supply chain management skills.

Achievements in this role: Increased stock accuracy by 35% over a period of 3 months. Reduced obsolete and excess materials by 50%. Made savings on costed BOM's in the region of 25% through strategic negotiation with key suppliers.

Reason for leaving this role: This was a contract role for 1 year. There was no option for an extension.

Supply Chain Specialist. Aug 1998 - Nov. 1999

Seagate Distribution (UK) Ltd., Irvine, KA11 5DD

· Assess, manage and develop vendor relationships in line with quality, cost and supply continuity goals.

· Use best practice purchasing techniques to ensure continuity of supply and optimum inventory levels whilst maintaining budgetary controls.

· Controlled an Annual Spend of circa $25 million.

· Responsible for total Supply Chain from Order placement through to receipt of product.

· This position was a supervisory role and gave me responsibility for 5 members of staff

Achievements in this role: Involvement in the reduction of customer BOM cost by some 45% using Best Practice Techniques.

Reason for leaving this role: I left this role because there was a threat of redundancy. Being proactive I made the decision to leave and seek alternative employment.

Buyer / Planner. Mar 1996 - Aug 1998

Ayrshire Precision Engineering Ltd., Low Coylton, KA6 6LF

· This was a multifunctional role in which I was solely responsible for the day-to-day management of customer accounts.

· Duties within the role included quoting for business per customer enquiries, scheduling orders into our production plan in line with customer requirements and the procurement of materials and services as required ensuring customer orders were satisfied on time and in full.

· Manage all procurement including services, consumables, tooling, and raw materials.

· This role was of management status and gave me responsibility over four members of staff.

Achievements in this role: Introduced Vendor Managed Inventory for all consumable tooling. Being a small company this reduced our monthly expenditure by approximately 20% while freeing up working capital.

Reason for leaving this role: I left this role because the opportunity arose for a role in the Electronics industry. At the time Engineering was on the decline so it was a natural progression.

Buyer. July1994 - Mar1996

British Aerospace Aerostructures, Prestwick, KA9 2RW

· Procure and expedite raw castings and forgings, machined and fabricated details.

· Responsible for Aircraft Fuel purchasing at a group level for Commercial Division

· Ensuring BAE bought at competitive market rates through the monitoring of market indices

· Co-ordinated multi-site buying agreements leveraging BAE buying strength and commercial processes.

· Created end to process to provide requisition to payment management.

· Continually seek the most competitive trading terms such as pricing, payment and delivery flexibility to BAe specifications for the above products.

· Negotiate and raise Purchase Orders up to £1,000,000 annual value.

· Use Master Production Schedule, Material Management MRP II system along with Windows based packages.

Achievements in this role: Successfully reduced the vendor base for castings and forgings whilst also recognising immediate savings of approx. 15%

Reason for leaving this role: I left this role to gain experience in the sub-contract environment to increase my job knowledge
