Present Responsibility Victrex PLC

Responsible and accountable for 3 Project engineers plus all contractors. Contracts for 2 major upgrade Front End Engineering Packages (FEEP) with a major EPC contractor, responsible for setting up Green Book contract, total project values £25 Million. Other projects ongoing on both sites approx value £5million. These included delivering operational & optimum PPM systems to be included in the site maintenance systems, updating and compliance with all regs PER, DSEAR, COMAH & IPPC. Responsible with the SHE section for updating of the sites PPC re-submission documents for 2007, also COMAH reg 8 for the associated projects.





Summary Of Responsibility Vitafoam Ltd

Responsible for all aspects of engineering & engineering teams for the Vitafoam sites (9 off) reporting to the Managing Director. Fully accountable for - Engineering manager, Maintenance manger & 25 maintenance part multi-skilled personnel team, Project Manager & 4 project engineers + 4 service engineers and 2 - technical clerks. Accountable for all capital projects and expenditure capital budget approx £20 million.

Maintenance budget £1.5million, which covered the manufacturing of polyurethane foam, associated CNC machines to cut the foam, fully automated and manual machines, warehousing and building facilities, site(s) security and security systems .

Setting up of the maintenance SHIRE (PPM) system - reduced reactive maintenance from 90% to 60% with a continuous improvement plan in place. Started to develop TPM systems with the ops manager.

As part of the senior management team my duties included being part of the Emergency response team and also part of the Emergency strategy team.

Development of the site COMAH & IPPC application for the Middleton site with the EHS manager.

Summary Of Responsibility and Experience (Ciba Chemicals).

Dimensions:

Accountable to the Head of Engineering.

Full accountability for 14 staff and various design Contractors as required, all E/I installation contractors on project work.

Department Consists of: 1-Team Leader Automation, 3-Automation Engineers, 6-C&E Project Engineers, 2-System Engineers, 1-Pressure Systems Engineer & 1-Adminstation Clerk.

For special Projects 1-Process Engineer & 1-Project Engineer (Mechanical).

Responsible for department recruitment, discipline, training and all managerial issues, full accountability for the department budget and cost control £900K per annum. Ownership of the standards, guidelines & procedures, represent the UK sites on the Ciba global standards committee.

Responsible for implementing new legislation into the engineering section, Pressure System Directives and engineering systems requirements which includes software tools and CAD. Involved in delivering the site(s) IPPC application & COMAH regulation submissions. Heavily involved in dialog with the regulatory authorities eg HSE & EA on the submissions of IPPS & COMAH regulation and associated audits & inspections.

Responsible for the Water & Paper Treatment Confidential Projects usually overseas.

Accountable for the selection of Contractors, form of Contract and negotiations on all large projects.





Experience:

Experienced Manager for Ciba Speciality Chemical Company covering all aspects of work from minor modifications to major capex projects (£28 Million). Experienced in C&E design, this includes the Automation Systems (DCS's, ESD's and PLC's), 415 V AC distribution systems design and installations including MCC's, load shedding and frequency converters. Full responsibility for all projects from front end package to chemical commissioning procurement, schedules, installation, all design and installation contracts, commissioning and spares for maintenance, in many cases of green field build responsible for setting-up & recruitment of the maintenance departments.

I was the responsible Electrical representative for the 11Kva system during the design, commissioning and early establishment of our Grimsby site. Set up and managed maintenance teams both in the USA site & Grimsby sites. Good working experience and understanding of the CDM regulation. Fully conversant with ATEX/DSEAR & PER directives, implemented throughout the sites. Vast experience with IEC61508/61511 ensuring the sites are compliant, presented many papers within the industry on this topic, ATEX and Alarm Management.

Responsible Instrument engineer for the Bradford & Grimsby sites, and one of the deputy responsible Electrical engineers.

Other responsibilities include full project management of various overseas projects classified as special and confidential. This includes management of multi-skilled personnel staff and contractors, both in the UK and overseas, the letting of contracts for execution usually MF1, responsible for the estimates, budget, cost control, schedules, relevant KPI's and progress reports. Latest project is a front-end package for a new manufacturing facility in Russia value £7 Million, beginning on the detailed design.

Past experience on overseas projects with full Control and Electrical responsibility for the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of major projects. These were under taken while still having responsibility for the Bradford site.

Brief summary of major projects under taken.

2003 Bradford/USA - Support on various multi million pound upgrades, conformity projects Pressure regs £100K, site conformance to ATEX/DSEAR £450K, Alarm Management project £500K. Overseas Project Proposals for sites in the USA £20M.

2001/2002 Bradford £6.3M - Batch Chemical process major revamp of existing production unit, completed while the Plant was operational, upgrade included many new safety & environmental functions, complete new Delta V control system, using aspects of fieldbus devices

1999/2000 Russia £7M - Batch Chemical process manual with limited automation in a hazardous area environment. Powder packaging and manual warehousing (computerized logging system).

Project Manager - Responsible for multi-disciplined team, estimate, design, schedule, budget, installation and all contracts, through to chemical commissioning, (currently at the design phase).

1998 Hungary £1.2M - Batch Chemical process manual with limited automation in a hazardous area environment.

1997 USA £6M - Batch Chemical process full automation in a hazardous area environment.

1994-1996 Grimsby £28M - Large batch process built on a Greenfield site, heavily automated, hazardous area environment, included complete tank farms and fully automated powder packaging and warehouse facilities.

Responsible for the C&E estimate, design, schedule, budget (C&E £8.6M), 11Kv system, installation through to chemical commissioning and all the site infrastructure security, fire alarms, lighting, telephones etc. Setting up and initial management of the maintenance dept, PPM schedules etc.

1992 China £80M

Project Manager - Front End concept and design only - Project cancelled.

1991 Denmark £500K - Small chemical batch process.

Project Manager - Responsible for a multi-disciplined team, estimate, design, schedule, budget, installation and all contracts, through to chemical commissioning.

1987-1990 USA £25M - Semi-continuous Chemical process, partial automation in a hazardous area environment, included complete tank farms and fully automated powder packaging and warehouse facilities.

1987 USA Project value £1.5M - Semi-continuous Chemical process partial automation in a hazardous area environment.

1986 Australia Project value £750K - Batch Chemical process partial automation in a hazardous area environment. Responsible for the C&E design, installation and setting up the maintenance dept & PPM regime.

Safety Experience.

Heavily involved with IEC61508/61511 and sit on the steering committee chaired by Eutech, for the work group steering the European commission. Presented case studies from the Ciba site using IEC 61508 to the committee on various situations, looking at safety and environmental problems associated with IEC 61508 from cradle to grave, including all maintenance aspects associated with SIL rated loops, actively get my staff involved with this.

Responsible for ensuring the site conforms to the new ATEX & DSEAR (Dangerous Substances in Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) directive for flammable atmospheres, which will be required by July 2003.

Involved in compliance with CDM regulations from the design phase through to maintenance aspects, this includes training and the managerial legal responsibilities.

Project Managing a site wide Alarm Management reduction program based on EEMUA 191.

Cost Saving Achievements.

Introduced single source purchasing on contract basis, this has had a drastic effect on cost savings to the Company an increase of 35% on a similar spend - recorded info as supporting evidence. Currently implementing a new instrument database for loop sheets, spec sheets and hook-ups, this will save approximately 40% engineering design time with increased information.
