Experience:

Currently he is self employed, making a living developing and renting out properties. He is voluntary taking part in the planning of the Space Elevator, a new means of launching cargos into space. The satellites will use electric motors to climb a very long cable into space. This should be much cheaper than the enormous rockets used by NASA. He is also voluntary helping the public by working one afternoon a week with the Christchurch branch of the Energy Conservation Group.
He is a highly experienced and adaptable producer of working real time systems. He had responsibility for managing, planning, integrating and progressing the work. He has taken part in all stages of the project lifecycle including bidding, systems design, specification, implementation, documentation, integration, team management and testing. He is a trailed PRINCE2 Project manager. Investigating defects and bugs followed by testing the cures was a normal part of the job. He helped gain the security accreditation of the PTARMIGAN and MAPPS COMSEC.
The work frequently involved working with customers like civil servants, officers and soldiers.
He joined Plessey at Christchurch in July 1979 and left 23 years later in August 2002. During that time Siemens and BAE Systems purchased the site. He worked on a variety of tasks mostly attached to the initial development and enhancement of the PTARMIGAN tactical communications network for the British Army. The PTARMIGAN subprojects/enhancements are MAPPS, SCRA Central Installation, Tactical Interface Installation, LASSE, Switch Installation initial models plus SLMA / SLMB / SLMC enhancements, Store and Forward Installation, GP-TAP, R / SATCOM and X25 packet switching. Other projects include DAGGER radar, HDRS/NCRS short wave telegraph network and PINDAR.
Since leaving BAE Systems he has done contract work at AWE, charity work for the New Milton Citizens Advice Bureau and taken courses whilst project managing the development of 3 properties. In his spare time he is using the internet to plan the Space Elevator.
