· A very successful Senior Quality Manager with extensive experience in the aircraft and related Industries I have a proven track record of achieving Quality Assurance and other technical and contractual requirements on behalf of the UK, USA and other countries working closely with prime and second tier suppliers. I am now looking for further opportunities as a Quality Manager to employ my expertise and skills. Further experience has been gained as a project manager in the cruise industry. Key Achievements

· Awarded medal by the USA for successful completion of Aircraft contracts that met their standards for quality within budget and timeframes as originally agreed.

· Championed new products that saved time, resources and money for customers and the contractor.

· Negotiated with the Indian MOD Quality Assurance Authorities on their requirements and budget for their Hawk contract.

· Gained BAe Systems Chairman's Award for the implementation of 5S strategy on the Hawk production line.

· Appointed to project manage a new luxury ship service costing around £300m in the UK.

· Successfully quality managed major aircraft contractors with in excess of £1.5 billion worth of contracts from major governments including UK, USA and many others to gain 'Flight Clearance'.

· Developed excellent relationships with over 50 contractors with business ranging £60m to £1.6 billion to produce quality aircraft and training systems for Governments, all within budget and time frames agreed.

· Awarded commendation by the Royal Navy, as a member of a team which successfully completed the total refurbishment of a Swordfish and other historic aircraft

Career

Dec 04 - June 06 Elite World Cruise Company, Hull Project Manager

· Gained a guarantee by the DTI for 80% funding for this £300m project to build 4 luxury ships to provide Elite Travel Services for the Luxury market.

· Set about to develop and lead this project in all aspects of design, build and maintenance of the ships, hotels services, booking systems and staff recruitment, so as to present a unified mature presentation to interested bodies to achieve the other 20% funding required.

· Drew together all interested parties and gave successful presentations to UK and USA financial institutions, prospective investors, local government and a member of the British Royal Family.

· Wrote extensive documentation from business plans, project procedures, codes of practice, quality to risk assessments.

· Unfortunately, the DTI withdrew their guarantee, which resulted in the liquidation of the project in June 2006 that would have definitely succeeded with sufficient financial backing, as all the underlying work and planning had been completed ready for launch.

June 98 - Dec 2004 MOD, RAF & NAVY Senior Quality Manager

· Responsible on behalf of the MOD at a major aircraft defence contractor to provide leadership to a team of Quality Assurance Residents. Customers included UK, USA, Canada, Saudi Arabia, with build requirements varying from 240 to 20 Hawk training aircraft and other aircraft such as the Harrier, and Nimrod.

· Act as focal point for quality, technical and operational requirements on specific aircraft types.

· Reported to Projects and Line and senior management in the DPA, DLO, MoD, USMC and the Canadian, South African, Indian, and Bahrain MOD.

· Identify, plan and mitigate risks.

· Ensured that corrective actions proposed by the contractor were carried out.

· Chaired or attended Project and Quality Meetings, Design, Engineering and Risk reviews.

· Carried out second party assessments in Sweden and South Afica

· On behalf of customers gave approval for new mechanical and electrical manufacturing processes, including CNC and production facilities, at the prime and suppliers.

· Monitor and co operate with the contractor on QMS, carry out planed audits on quality risks.

· Mentor staff to improve their corporate and technical knowledge, management skills, and improve their competencies.

· Work with contractor and customer to identify key issues, plan, budget, and allocate resources.

· Managed this team of Quality Assurance Residents to monitor standards of quality concerning design, manufacturing and software on behalf of the UK, USA and other Foreign Governments, so we could give clearance for 'flight of aircraft' and 'fitness of training systems' to these countries.

· Focal point for concessions, waivers and technical investigation on the Hawk aircraft.

· Achieved Corporate aims by translating objectives into workable processes and procedures that my 4-man team could use effectively to carry out risk based surveillance monitoring and report on agreed KPIs

· Produced Quality Plans including a generic and specific documents.

· Wrote operating procedures and guidance for staff and other MoD representatives.

· Gained expert knowledge of bonding and the working of new materials, including non-destructive testing procedures.

· Raised and ensured that Quality Deficiency Reports raised against the prime and second tier suppliers were actioned.

· Produced a 'Guide to Negotiation' with Middle East countries, working with UK Defence Procurement and overseas countries on contracts.

· Involved in Strategy and Planning from working with a wide range of contractors to the implementation of assessing risks, design and quality technical issues, that required resolution.

Feb 88 - Jun 98 MOD Quality Assurance Resident

(Based at Major Defence Contractor site)

· Provided quality surveillance at a major contractor on behalf of the MOD and Foreign Government contracts.

· Over the period I attended numerous course on quality (AQAPS1-13), Software, Clearance for flight, Modern Manufacturing techniques, Design, Reliability, Risk, Project management, Contractor Assessment and Repair of Honeycomb and GRP materials.

· Established excellent interpersonal relationships with contractors and customers to produce win win situations, which facilitated successful conclusion of contracts and tasks within budget and time frame.

· Contributed to good lines of communication between large and small contractors.

· Carried out Quality and Product audits, First Article Inspections, and product testing on aircraft, contactors QMS and at sub contractors.

· Successfully trained and managed colleagues in the implementation of a number of software audits.

· Carried out technical investigations and resolve problems.

· Maintained quality by knowledge and implementation of AQAPs, Defence Standards, ISOs, British Standards and Mil specs.

1964 - 1987 Military Service Chief Instructor at Nimrod Training Base

(Final position in my Military Service)

· Promoted after gaining all necessary technical and management skills at different stages in my military service to become a Chief Instructor at the Nimrod Training base.

· Completed 22 years of service in the RAF providing technical assistance on the maintenance of aircraft from airframes, engines, electrics, instruments to avionics.

· Provided first and second line support at maintenance bays and engineering operations.

Education Qualifications

· Successfully completed an Open University Degree in Design, Engineering and Systems. Level 2:2 in 1996.

· Member of Institute of Leadership and Management.

· Gained an ONC in Mechanics and Electrical systems through an excellent technical apprenticeship with the RAF.

Computer Skills

· Considerable use of Microsoft Word in the preparation of documentation for setting up and providing information for various organisations from Government to Financial Institutions.

· Used Excel in developing budget and resource plans, as well as planning staff allocation.

· Prepared and gave professional PowerPoint presentations to different audiences and groups.

· Extensively used Microsoft Project to manage large projects.
