1998 Torness Power Station (AGR)

Safety Inspector carrying out independent inspections for Scottish Nuclear. Assessments of ISI camera footage ensuring reactor internal components were fit for purpose.

1998 Chernobyl Nuclear Power Station (RBMK)

Safety Advisor carrying out inspections of electrical switchgear and civil structures. During periodic testing of fire fighting sprinkler systems the ingress of water onto 415V switchgear had to be investigated. Method statements & Risk Assessments were completed, audits, inspections, training and behavioural observations and coaching carried out.

1997/8 Hinkley B Power Station (AGR)

Safety co-ordinator of Contractors during reactor shutdown. Direct liaison with the station chemist ensured compliance to the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations.

1996 Oldbury Power Station (Magnox)

Responsible for carrying out remote repairs on pressure vessel cooling water pipe-work. Safe systems of work had to be implemented for the safe completion of repairs and pressure testing.

1995 Cheltenham Race Course

Following the tragedy at Hillsborough football ground - installation of condition monitoring equipment and analysis to ensure safety.

1994 Sellafield Combined Heat and Power Plant

Noise surveys were carried out to establish if noise levels at Calder Hall Farm during steam discharges complied with Environmental Health legislation.

Also, noise levels on the plant were monitored to ensure a safe working environment was achieved in compliance with the Noise at Work Regulations 1989. Acoustic shielding and enclosures were recommended where necessary.

1993 - 1996 Sizewell B Power Station (PWR)

Safety Advisor during construction & commissioning phases. Installation of a vibration monitoring system on major pipe-work to record excessive vibration levels.

1993 Dounreay Prototype Fast Reactor (PFR)

Supervision of a team of technicians install weld-able strain gauges on to super-heater and re-heater pressure vessels. Liaison with UKAEA Project Management ensured the safe and successful completion of the project to time and budget.

1993 Faslane Dockyard (MoD)

Inspection of ship-lift to check for corrosion damage to plating. Mechanical testing of "U" bolts for Hydrogen en-brittlement was also carried out to ensure the safe operation of lifting ropes.

1992 Aldermaston (MoD)

Safety Inspection of Radioactive Liquid Effluent Treatment Plant.

1991 - 1995 Oldbury Power Station (Magnox)

A remote inspection and replacement of pockets and sleeves was carried out using glove boxes linked to control desks, cameras and pc's.
