MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEER
ShetlandAn agency Mechanical Project Engineer working within the Set Piece Section of Sullom Voe Fabric Maintenance project section.
Mechanical Project Engineer
An ongoing thorough mechanical inspection of the pipework and fabric infrastructure on the terminal has identified many remedial repair requirements. Many of these repairs require the replacement of sections of pipe and as most systems are fully welded this necessitates the requirement for site hotwork.
As all oil and gas installations adopt a policy for hotwork to be a last resource, it is my role to look at all the mechanical alternative techniques and confirm process justification before embarking on a hotwork strategy.
The position workscope
• Mechanical appraisal of recommended repair reports – Evaluate and present for discussion engineering solutions and options.
• Mechanical engineering design of unconventional repair solutions ensuring methods are within design codes.
• Developing layout and fabrication isometric drawings, weld procedures and testing procedures.
