2004- Present HS&E Onshore Offsite Coordinator, Agip (ENI), London

HS&E Coordinator for several main onshore packages including; Power generation and Utilities (Paris); Industrial buildings (Istanbul); Integrated Control and Safety System (UK); Telecommunications (Florence); Tanks (Budapest, Almaty); Freight forwarding (Milan, London). The work comprises compliance by the contractors to HS&E contractual requirements, including review of HSE Management Systems, Monitoring, Reporting, Procedures and Audits.

2002-2004 HS&E Lead Engineer, Snamprogetti (ENI), Basingstoke

a) HS&E lead for the detail design of a Continuous catalyst Regeneration reformer and a new light Straight Run Naphtha Isomerization Unit. This included preparation of Electrical and Hazardous Area drawings, fire protection equipment and layout, HAZOPs, EIA, SILs, HSE Plans, Procedures.

b) HS&E lead for the detail design of a Hydrogen Plant for a Hungarian Refinery. This included HS&E Plans, Philosophies, Hazardous area drawings, HAZOP and SIL reviews, Risk analysis, Fire and gas philosophy and layout of detectors, fire protection and other safety issues.

2002 HS&E Manager/Lead engineer, Rig Design services, London

Front end HS&E FEED study for a Chinese Drilling Rig (Chunxiao). This included preparation of Safety and Escape route drawings, Area classification layouts and schedule, firewater hydraulic calculations, fire and gas detection system design philosophy, provisional safety assessments and liaison with other disciplines on safety issues.

1999 - 2002 HS&E Manager, Shell Geelong Refinery, Australia

Responsible for all HS&E activities in the Refinery. This included investigation of incidents, day to day management of safety, proactive safety programmes and plans together with fire and explosion analyses, which fed into a quantitative and qualitative risk assessment for the Safety Case which, was presented to the authorities. Notable achievements were obtaining ISO 14001 (environmental) certification, development of an HS&E Management System and Safety Case; and achieving a significant reduction in incidents.

1989 - 1999HS&E Manager, Shell Expro, London, Aberdeen

HS&E responsibility on new projects and development of existing installations. This included Front-end engineering, Contract preparation and Evaluation; Detail design including preparation of Safety Cases for manned (Nelson, Anasuria, and Curlew) and normally unmanned installation (Galleon). Responsibilities included writing of Safety Plans and philosophies, fire and safety systems, escape and evacuation, fire and explosion analysis, qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, HAZIDS, HAZOPs and liaison with regulatory authorities.

1985 - 1989 Project Engineering/Manager, Shell Expro London, Aberdeen

Main responsibilities included the engineering design of expansions at gas plants (Mossmorran and St. Fergus) and engineering modifications to existing offshore platforms, in particular the Brent field in the North Sea.

1979 - 1985Project Leader, Shell Research, Amsterdam, Netherlands

Main responsibilities were: development of ceramics and epoxy composite engineering applications. I was responsible for the development of valves for coal gasification, which utilised ceramic materials. I was also project leader for the development of very high performance high-pressure composite vessels for the containment of CNG.

1976 - 1979Research, Oxford Univ.

Investigation into the stability of spherical shells designed for containment of LNG on ships.
