Scope Of Contract: Refurbishment 2 off 300(MW) Gas Turbine Generators and the Heat Recovery Steam Generators, plus associated balance of plant.

Job Description: To provide the Project Management Team with Quality Assurance and Quality control management expertise and advise in support of all aspects of the project, conceptual and detailed design, procurement, construction and installation, up to the final hand over to the asset holder.

Key role to develop and maintain the company Quality Management System (QMS), direct and monitor the system.

To ensure compatibility between the company (QMS) and those of the contractors and suppliers and resolve potential discrepancies. Develop and implement quality assurance and control verification processes for the design, fabrication, installation and operational phases of the project activities and to monitor and report on conformances and deficiencies.

Provide support for the continuous improvement of the BS5750 / ISO 9000 (QMS) specifically for the parts dealing with process and technical support while increasing the professionalism in the

QA/QC management systems.

Investigating past history and detailed inspection of the turbines and generators, plus balance of plant, formulating a strategy and recovery plan, studies on the future of the rehabilitation program, preparation of the technical and commercial specifications, scope of work and material lists.

Develop and implement quality assurance and control, central registry and matrix for document control, in compliance with ISO 9000. 1/2. Develop and implement a site health and safety strategy, with emphasis on risk analysis and hazard assessment.

Time scheduling of plant inspections and monitoring the clients inspection team, also to render advice to the same.

To preside over the daily, weekly and monthly progress meetings, document and write up the minutes for submittal to the client.

To liaise and arbitrate between consultants, contractors and client with reference to corrective actions and non conformities.

To review and accept pre and final commissioning reports and certification on behalf of the clients.

To identify and recruit lead personnel and craftsman. To manage the rehabilitation and rebuild. To liaise with the certification and classification authorities to obtain license, Negotiate and liaise with the D.T.I. for the export license and guarantees. Write up and amend all manufacturing drawings and maintenance manuals, plus commissioning data and reports.

Scope of rehabilitation, complete overhaul of 2 Westinghouse Steam Turbines Generators, 50 (MW) per unit. 2 off Skoda Steam, Turbine Generators 30 (MW) per unit and 2 off Cooper Bessemer Gas Turbine Generators 25 (MW) per unit, and 2 of Burnmiester Wain Slow Speed Diesel Generators. 27.5 (MW) per unit.

Fitting of new upgrade rotors shafts, bearings and seals, re-insulation of generator rotors, Waste heat recovery boilers, Heater and strainers, Reverse Osmosis Plant, and Sea Water cooling system and upgrading the Co2 fire fighting system.

CONSULTANT ENGINEERING SURVEYOR.

Brief ; To carry out a mechanical/electrical survey on three power stations in northern Peru to ascertain the reasons for loss of generating potential.

To compile a detailed report for submission to the Minister Of Mines And Energy.

On completion and submission, I was requested to formulate a recovery plan and strategy for the recovery of the potential.

The plan identified the scope of work, detailed time and work schedules, preferred contractors and costings.

The generation machinery consisted of gas and steam turbines, boilers, slow and high speed diesels and various associated balance of plant.

Further to de-commissioning of the nuclear reactors, I was given the task of re-writing and adapting the existing quality assurance program and system B.S.5882 Nuclear Quality Assurance to run along side B.S. 5750. and to submit the same for auditing by Lloyds Register and Shell Petroleum. Offshore. Aberdeen.

Design And Construction.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER OFFSHORE

Duties involved giving technical support to the project engineers, supervising, witnessing and monitoring of all work during construction and pre-commissioning phases, ensuring Aramco Engineer Standards are complied with. Also assisting in pre-commissioning and startup.

Typical Projects: Zuluf Offshore Field. COSPs 2/3 new shipping pumps, new motors and lube oil systems. Zuluf Offshore COSPs 3/4 demothballing and re-commissioning all mechanical/electrical rotating equipment which included 3 Rolls Royce SK 30/Brush Generating units, Shipping and Stripping pumps. Fire Water systems, Reverse Osmosis plant and HVAC.

Marjan Offshore Field : GOSPS 2/3 project almost identical, to Zuluf 3/4 project, but COSP 2 included gas compression platform, which included 6 GELM2500 gas compression skids, 3 York compression refrigeration skids, Sea Water lift pumps and cooling.

Other typical projects, re-rating Elliot 29M2 Centrifugal Compressors with lube oil and dry gas seal system, Brush 10.000 HP motors, Lufkin Increasers Gearboxes also miscellaneous pumps and heat exchangers.

To attend various shipbuilders and repairers, power stations and petro/chemical plants to carry out statuary service inspections, to monitor and witness, certify, manufacturing and repair procedures of main and auxiliary engines and associated machinery for compliance to Lloyds Register and the United Kingdom Board Of Trade.

Steam and Gas Turbines, Diesel Engines, Pumps and Compressors, Piping and Valve systems, Manifolds, Boilers and Condensers, Heat Exchangers, Refrigeration Plants, Transmissions, Couplings, Lifting Derricks and Winches, Safety and Fire Fighting systems.

Witnessing and approval of welding procedures and welders qualification in compliance to Lloyds Register. BS 4870. ASME IX. Final sentencing of radiography and non destructive testing, attending various test houses and laboratorys to witness and certify metallurgy, mechanical and chemical analysis to certificate the same.
