A Chartered Civil Engineer with over 25 years experience in Civil and Structural Engineering consisting of ten years experience as a Project Manager and Project Co-ordinator on multidiscipline waste water, industrial chemical and flammable liquid bulk storage projects. Several years experience as a Construction Manager and Resident Engineer and ten years design experience.

Lead Civil Engineer-Saint Gobain, Proppants Plant, Venezuela.

Responsible for Civil design and specifications, preparation of Bills of Quantities, Civil Tender appraisal and multi discipline liaison.

Project value $35m including Sintering and Calcining Kilns and coolers, Crushing, Process and Finishing Buildings.

Project Manager - Pfizer Effluent Balancing Project

Responsible for Project Management of a multi-discipline team on a £1.5m effluent balancing project. This included a double containment drainage system, inlet screen, foul and trade effluent reception tanks and 600m3 of effluent balancing tanks and associated pipework in 316L stainless steel.

Lead Civil Engineer - Dubai Aluminium Smelter, Kestrel Project, Dubai.

Responsible for the design and co-ordination of civil, architectural and building services within a $400 million extension to an aluminium smelter. Managed the production of designs and engineering drawings, responsible for resource planning, progress reporting, change control and liaison with other disciplines and external contractors. Carried out the preparation and checking of civil design calculations and specifications. Area Civil Engineer for Potlines (including Fume Treatment Plants and 2 storey sub-stations), Pot Demolition Building and extensions to Rodding Room and Crucible Cleaning buildings.

February 2002 - April 2002

Resident Engineer - ABB/WSP - Stella West Sub-Station, Newburn.

Responsible for the site supervision of the civil engineering contractor on a high voltage sub-station to ensure that construction was completed to meet safety, quality, time and financial targets.

February 2001- January 2002.

Project Co-ordinator - FOSTER WHEELER ENERGY LIMITED - Huntsman Tioxide ICON 2 Project.

Responsible for interfacing between various disciplines to expedite design information to enable the civil design to progress. Liaison between the construction and design teams to prioritise the release of drawings and delivery of equipment. Responsible for planning, forecasting and monitoring the Man-hour Projection Plan including change control.

Responsible for total Project Management from concept to commissioning and handover including commercial aspects and the management of multi-discipline design and site construction teams to ensure clients received cost effective solutions, on time and within budget whilst delivering a profit for Mowlem.

November 1991 - January 1999

Client Project Manager - NORTHUMBRIAN WATER LIMITED

Responsible for delivery of projects within the capital investment programme to meet time, cost and quality targets whilst achieving value for money innovative solutions. This involved forming close working relationships with internal and external customers to identify their needs, developing the design brief and procuring the solution through the use of external consultants and contractors. Responsibilities extended from concept and feasibility through the whole project life cycle to commissioning and handover.

Projects included:-

June 1995 - January 1999 - £75 million Bran Sands Effluent Treatment Works

Effluent treatment works and transfer system, a co-treatment works involving the treatment of ICI, DuPont and British Steel industrial effluents and domestic sewage. Responsible for the design and construction of the treatment plant, office building, sub-stations, workshops and sludge thickening building and PTA neutralisation, balancing and transfer system (in 316L stainless steel).

December 1992 - December 1996 - £18 million Seaham Bathing Waters Scheme

A multi-discipline project involving a coastal interceptor, pumping station, preliminary treatment works and a long sea outfall.

July 1991 - December 1992 - £6.2 million Grassholme Auxiliary Spillway and Visitors Centre

This included a spillway, stone faced visitor centre, associated car parks and access road widening.

December 1992 - December 1996 - Implementation of The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations

Project Management for implementing the requirements of The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994, including the preparation of a Company Safety Management System and development of a training programme and auditing procedure.

June 1986 to November 1991 - Principal Engineer - WHITE YOUNG, Billingham
