A highly motivated, qualified Mechanical Engineer, specializing in Metallurgy, Welding, Corrosion Control, Non Destructive Testing and Inspection Engineering with over 35 years experience in all aspects of the oil and gas industry much of which has been gained in the Middle East. Qualified and experienced in making judgmental decisions. Leading teams of up to 10 qualified engineers (both expat and national). Wide ranging involvement in QA matters during construction and commissioning of major and minor projects, both onshore and offshore.

Sound knowledge of international codes and standards including API, AWS, ASME, ANSI, NACE, ASTM, BS EN, ISO.

Developed a simplified RBI assessment based on ASNI/API RP 580-2002 'Risk-Based Inspection' and the Shell RBI methodology. Familiar with the use of API RP 579 'Fitness for Service' for assessing the suitability of equipment to run/repair/replace for continued service, specifically qualitative evaluations determined by level 1 and 2 assessment procedures as necessary.

QA/QC SUPERVISOR, OFFSITES GROUP

Assigned to the Tengiz Chevroil - Second Generation Project (SGP), responsible as the QA/QC Supervisor for the coordination of surveillance activities and reporting during new facilities construction and major mechanical equipment package installations which typically included LPG pressure vessels, storage tanks and a 171 Metre flare derrick.

Review and approve WPS's and associated PQR's submitted by Contractors.

Review, comment and approve Quality Plans, procedures and method statements submitted by Contractors.

Ensure that QVD's (Quality Verification Documents) were prepared by the Contractors for systems turnover to 'Complete i t '. Verify that the Contractors provided the necessary documents required by Regulatory Affairs Dept. and the RoK (Republic of Kazakhstan).

Ensure that the requirements of the ITP's (Inspection and Test Plans) were met in line with the Project Specifications.

Attend regular meetings with Contractors to ensure that QA/QC issues on installation and related inspections were satisfactorily progressed including reporting on systems handover.

Interface with internal disciplines and Contractors on QC surveillance findings and non-conformance reporting by the QC discipline inspectors and tracking of timely and satisfactory close out.

Ensure that preservation and maintenance planning was carried out.

Arrange for the testing and acceptance of all PQR's used for the Project in support of the proposed WPQ's including welding low temperature materials, ASTM A333 Gr. 6 pipe to ASTM A350 LF2 material. Project requirements were that all piping should achieve minimum Charpy values of 27 Joules at -46 0C

Coordinate the review of Vendor's submitted Quality Plans, ITP's and related documentation and to advise on compliance with the quality requirements of the Contract.

Responsible for prioritising and delegating the work to the team of 6 British expatriates employed as QA/QC engineers, plant inspectors, senior welding inspectors, plus 4 welding and coating and insulation inspectors from the subcontinent and 7 local Syrian graduate employees.
