Summary of work experience

Over the past 38 years I have gained experience in all aspects of engineering. During this time I have worked for over 7 years in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

I have been involved in a senior design and engineering capacity for numerous engineering projects in the petrochemical field.

I have worked on design drawings, estimation for construction packages, production of instrument and electrical work scopes, logic sequence flow diagrams, production of data sheets, cost time resource documentation, F.A.T.'s, equipment reviews, specifying equipment and validation of equipment.

Over the past few years I have specialised in gas compression revamps having successfully completed the instrument engineering and design for Arco Thames platform installation of a new EGT Tornado turbine and Cooper Bessemer re-vamped compressor skid. Until recently I was working for ABB Offshore Systems on the control upgrade to ABB Advant system on Hydro Hiemdal platform main gas export compressors. Recently worked on a new accommodation hook-up for NAM in the Netherlands. At present I am working as an electrical engineer covering various compressor sites to produce up to date electrical drawings.

Position: - Senior Instrument Engineer

Project: - Broken Hill Petroleum Liverpool Bay De bottlenecking project for the Lennox and Douglas platforms. Work covered the following: - FEED studies, attendance at hazzop meetings, preparation of CTR's, Bid tabs, Data Sheets, Material requisitions and work packs.

Was employed as an E&I technical Appraiser for Transco/NGT. Work covered all compressor and AGI sites mainland UK. Co-ordinating with data capture contractor Multitech to resolve various appraisal comments on drawings submitted.

September 2002 to April 2003Dresser-Rand (UK), Wythenshawe, Manchester

Employed as an instrument project engineer on refurbishment and upgrade of gas compression stations for SPDC (Shell Nigeria). Work involved the upgrade of various gas compression stations on the Aladija and Sapele-Oben pipelines. Work covered the installation of new Siemens plc based station control panels, safety systems, and renewal of gas metering (Rosemount instrumentation tied into Daniels 500 flow computer) Work also covered upgrading of power generation on gas compression stations.

Employed as an instrument engineer on various NAM platform upgrades. Worked on a new accommodation platform (by SLP) hook-up (K81) to an existing production platform located in the Dutch sector. Work covered extension to mod bus system.

Installation of new Marex wind speed system, Crane cab fire detection, P.A.systems upgrade, TLQ water system, auto S/D of HVAC, installation of ESDV's, crane monitoring system installation and crane slew ring/boom change out.

Employed as a senior E & I designer on Brent field close out dept. Responsibilities covered the closing out of various work packs for the Brent field platforms, complying to HSE & UKOOA guidelines and at all times to BS5750. Worked on all discipline documentation in closing out work packs.

Employed as senior E & I designer responsible for the design & co-ordination of various upgrade projects for the Ninian field. The following lists some of the work packs covered during period:

Hydro cyclone package, firewater pump replacement, well dedication reconfiguration, reappraisal of ESD system due to McCarrick report, Separator upgrade, diesel centrifuge package, jetting pump system for well, rig removal package, fire and gas matrix system upgrade.

The design on the above projects covered Scada network systems, public address, fire & gas and Turnbill control systems.

Employed as an instrument section leader on Shell Leman & Indefatigable accommodation upgrade project.

October 1988 to January 1989Statoil Mongstatt Rafinor Refinery Norway

Employed as an instrument engineer covering inst. and control queries that arose during loop testing.

August 1988 to October 1988 John Brown Eng. Ltd. Aberdeen

Employed as an offshore co-ordinator to lead a team of 8 designers on an as built exercise for Occidental on the Claymore platform. Work was carried out as part of a HAZOP study in the wake of the Piper Alpha disaster.

Employed as a technical support co-ordination engineer as part of an ESD task force (UEA/10) covering all control and shutdown functions and reviewing PEFS for the Brent field.
