Freelance Graphic / Web Designer

Design photo realistic extensions and additions to people’s homes and businesses for estate marketing. Design high quality graphic pages for web sites using either own creative ideas, or under direction of client as desired by client.

(ongoing)

Worked on a number one Christmas P.C title. My role was to model and texture buildings for in game placement including Lod’s, shadow volumes and lighting shells. The team and myself worked to very tight deadlines and never failed to meet them. I learnt a great deal about 3d graphics and how it is used in game engines including the many restrictions. Paramount to this I learnt that clean geometry and good use of textures is first and foremost to creating good in game assets.

(ongoing)

Music video fx work. The client needed 3d objects and fx in his music video.
The video needed to have spit hit a wall and spell out the artists name in the first 30 seconds of the video, which needed some dynamic attributes. Other 3d elements needed were in the form of 3d speakers and plasma projection screen’s to fly through an underground car park. The footage was tracked by myself using Boujou. A digital set was made for shadow capture also. This video can be seen on Channel U and MTV Base, and now has a remixed version.

(ongoing)

Striker under takes the huge task of creating 10 pages of full 3d artwork every week. This can sometimes mean creating environments and props just for a small shot and then a totally new environment and new character set for the next.
Striker uses Maya for all of its artwork and creates all images from concept art and scripts created by Pete Nash. All work has a high attention to detail and must meet strict deadlines. I have learnt a great deal at Striker the biggest learning curve was learning how to use everything in Maya at a much quicker pace than what I was originally used to. I have also learnt a great deal about low poly counts and scene optimization in respect to low texture files and clean geometry.

(ongoing)

Worked with Envious Eyes as a modeler and texture artist on a pitch for The War Of The Worlds animated musical for use on the tour. The pitch was successful and has recently been finished.

(Oct 2005 to Jul 2006)

Here I worked as a Maya and VIZ artist at BBC TVC for BBC Sport.
The main role is to supply 3d graphics using either Maya or Viz for broadcast.
Working closely with the design directors, creative directors and fellow designers to produce a new 3d brand identity for BBCSport. I have Worked closely with design directors on the World Cup title sequence and produced animatics over live footage to get a feel for what the footballers moves needed to look like in front of green screen. These where shown to Wayne Rooney, Ronaldinho , Thierry Henry and Steven Gerard from which they acted out our moves.
My work can also be seen on televised football matches starting with The World Cup 06, in the form of information graphics, badges, flags and other 3d graphics.
My work can also be seen in the title sequence of the Athletics in the form of a 3d stadium, which was created in Maya.

Responsibilities included:
Technical Artist - This involved drawing from clients draft artwork to a more technical and precisely measured template for use in creating tools that would be used to cut, crease, fold and emboss at extreme precision.
