Managing a business unit which includes the following areas:- machine shop, plating and anodising plant, spray shop and assembly areas, 85 direct operators and 4 production managers. Total business unit turnover of £11m. Other responsibilities include project managing new hardware installation and overhauling the material and shop floor scheduling.
Business Operations Manager
January 2004 to Aug 2007 Ifor Williams Trailers LTD, Cynwyd, Corwen, Denbighshire.
Managing a business unit which includes the following product lines:- Livestock, un-braked trailers, Canopies, and Jumbo Horseboxes. Responsibilities include 100+ operators, 2 quality technicians, Material Scheduler, 5 Team Leaders and Maintenance department which includes maintenance Team Leader, 2 fitters, and 2 electricians. Total business unit turnover of £21m for 2005/06. Other responsibilities include implementing and maintaining the business systems and maintaining the integrity and effectiveness in line with production and customer requirements.
Project Manager
April 2000 to January 2004 Ifor Williams Trailers LTD, Cynwyd, Corwen, Denbighshire.
Initially responsible for a multi site implementation of MRP and system controls in line with ISO accreditation. From Jan 2001 given the task of project managing the specifying, costing, production, contract negotiations and delivery of over 1400 generator trailers for Genistics which are the MOD arm of Vickers Specialist Engines (part of Rolls Royce plc). Total contract value of >£7m. Contract was completed on time with no penalties incurred by April 2005. Responsible for various installations including a press shop (mostly Amada), machine shop, laser and plasma profile cutting machines (Bistronic and Laser), and robot welding machines (ABB and Fanuc).
Senior Material Scheduler
August 1999 to April 2000 Ifor Williams Trailers LTD, Cynwyd, Corwen, Denbighshire.
Responsible for material scheduling on all of the groups sites. Began implementing new MRP and internal material control systems.
Materials Scheduler
Sept 1997 to Aug 1999 Ifor Williams Trailers LTD, Cynwyd, Corwen, Denbighshire.
Responsible for the materials scheduling on the main assembly site, set up and developed systems to communicate and control all aspects of the material on site. Massive reductions in inventory and stock outs along with improved supplier relationships within first 12 months, further refinement and development continued until I moved on to the other sites.
