Oct 2007-Present.

Alstom -Train Life Services (TLS)

Undertaking in repair, overhauling and assembly of large AC and DC traction motors. Including removal and fitting of couplings and bearings, balancing rotors and machining shafts. All aspects of mechanical fitting are undertaken.

Sept 2000-2006

Rolls-Royce Power Engineering.

Specialising in Gas Turbine driven electrical generators and gas compressors. Dealing with the installation, service and repair, culminating in testing the turbines and all their components on full load.

I undertake in, and am competent in every aspect of mechanical work in the factory, including the installation and lining up of gear boxes and generators, motors and pumping equipment to fine specifications. I am a competent machinist and can work to extremely fine tolerances. I am also a competent welder and have a good knowledge of electrics and electronics.

Oct 1998-Oct 1999

Royal Navy.

Training as a Marine Engineering Mechanic 2 nd class, (MEM2). A wide and varying range of personal and professional skills were learned during my time in the Royal Navy. At the forefront of these are a sense of discipline, excellent time keeping, and teamworking. An ability to mix with people from all backgrounds is also an essential tool.

My experience in the Armed Forces gave me a degree of ability to manage my time effectively, as military life is based around strict times and deadlines.

I have always been highly motivated and enjoy a challenge. This is illustrated by my decision to further my education after my apprenticeship had ended.
