Project Details

Establishing Site Master Schedule and standard project controls as per GSK company procedures. Scheduling the completion of a £15m manufacturing facility refurbishment. The refurbishment was a decommissioned facility for producing backup supply of Abacavir Sulphate and Gluturate. The Project was fast tracked to guarantee supply of product to market. The refurbishment included replacement of obsolete plant and equipment, decommissioning of redundant systems, modification and installation of new services, process plant and replacement of the control system. Various other minor projects.

Involvement

· Establishing a high level schedule for all site capital projects including handover.

· Developing and maintaining resourced construction / refurbishment schedules and generating commissioning / validation schedules.

· Analysing contractors progress and producing standard progress, manpower and productivity curves for bi-monthly senior management meetings.

· Generating and updating progress trackers for daily construction and commissioning meetings.

· Tools used include P3, Excel and Microsoft Project.

Project Details

Decommissioning and dismantling of the Prototype Fast Reactor Complex (PFR). The major project focus was the removal of major chemical and radiological hazards including the removal and destruction of 1500 tonnes of molten sodium from the Reactor Vessel and cooling system. Completed works included the installation of an effluent treatment plant and sodium destruction plant. Ongoing works included replacement and transfer of the existing facility power supplies and the strip out of approx. 1400te of redundant steam and sodium pipework, plant and equipment.

Involvement

· Lead Planner responsible for developing and maintaining the lifetime programme for the decommissioning of the Prototype Fast Reactor Complex.

· Earned Value Management and baseline control for the PFR facility through formal change control.

· Producing detailed design, build and operations schedules for the removal and destruction of 1500te of contaminated bulk and residue sodium from the reactor vessel and associated cooling systems.

· Estimating, forecasting and cost management of the redundant steam and secondary sodium cooling system including removal and disposal of pipework, drums, vessels and platforms.

· Assisting in preparation of various scope documentation and build up of estimates

· Project controls systems used include P3e, SAP, Excel and Microsoft Project.

· Lead Planner responsible for developing an integrated suite of logic and resource scheduled programmes and metrics for the design and build of the first of class vessel.

· Creating the baseline schedule for vessels 2 and 3 based on the first of class.

· Handing over the project schedule for vessels 1and 3 and initial support to the assigned Lead Planners.

· Assumed fulltime responsibility for the daily management of all aspects of project planning on the second vessel.

· Development a new Work Breakdown Structure, roll-up process and reporting format to enable analysis and reporting at both contract summary and work face levels. The system was rolled out across all projects and was a major step forward for the organisation, pulling together all the standalone elements of the project under a single reporting structure. The structure linked procurement plans, stores, accounts, and timekeeping databases and work schedules.
