Project Work The objective of the project to remove, toxic metals from the wastewater by using ion exchange fibre. It works on Adsorption phenomenon on the surface of Fibre. There are different ion exchange materials readily available in market but Fibrous ion exchanger has several advantages over a conventional ion exchanger. In this project I worked for the removal of lead and copper ions because these metal ions accumulate with the organism and cause the numerous disease and disorder ness in the human body. Due to this reason European Community Council has very strict legislations about the presence of heavy metal in drinking water. I have done the characterisation of the fibre which includes FT-IR analysis, surface area and pore size distribution and elemental analysis to analysis the basic characteristics of the fibre. I use the batch sorption technique to remove lead and copper by competitive and non-competitive methods from water by using FIBAN fibre.

During my training period I worked with the senior engineers on a project to convert the process from furnace oil to coal. I learnt more about designing, the effect of coal quality not only on the process but also on the environment. In addition I increased my experience by:

▪ Attending meetings and seminars with the manager.

▪ Learning about the inspection of the process.

▪ Managing the quality of the product.

▪ Reporting to the Process manager

▪ Working as a team member in Environment Health and Safety Department.

OTHER WORK EXPERIENCE:

I currently work two evenings a week in Tesco Cafe as Food Assistant. I was a Sales Assistant at BP Connect from October 2005 to October 2006. All these jobs have called for patience and attention to the needs of customers. During these work I strengthen my communication and team work skills by interacting with different people belongs to the different culture and backgrounds.
