EMPLOYMENT HISTORY
AMEC Oil & Gas (Contract) 2006-Present
Position: Senior Instrument & Electrical Designer
I have recently been seconded as a Commissioning Engineer for Sigma3. The Projects I was responsible for include the upgrade of a Riser Valve ESD system for Brent Bravo (involving a full field shutdown) and the installation of a large chemical injection package for Gannet Alpha (Project value £1.6 million). During this secondment I was responsible for supervising vendor Engineers and Sigma3 Technicians, liaising with platform operations and reporting daily to onshore personnel.
I have experience developing several E&I workpacks for various clients within the Oil & Gas sector. I have in depth knowledge of EDS (Engineering Data System), WPS (Work Planning System) JMS (Jobcard Management System).
At present I am also working as part of a team to review Problem Improvement Reports (PIR's) and developing Basis for Design (BFD's) documents used to aid in giving level 1 estimates for future projects.
Including the above, my role involves carrying out detailed offshore surveys and reports to enable Instrument & Electrical Engineering upgrades to assets predominately within the North Sea Offshore Oil & Gas Sectors. Once the report has been issued I work as part of a team of Designers and Engineers to produce upgrade engineering solutions for inefficient and obsolete equipment, continuing through to the producing workpacks used during the implementation phase, supervision of commissioning and handover.
Some other projects I have been involved with include a complete platform Fire and Gas system upgrade which I was responsible for creating construction and commissioning workpacks (Chirag, Azerbaijan), design for a replacement H 2S Scavenger Chemical Injection system design (Dunlin Alpha) and was the Engineer responsible for the successful upgrade and reinstatement of a sub sea well and controls (Cormorant Alpha).
Production Services Network (PSN) Ltd (previously KBR) 2005 - 2006
Position: Offshore Shift Instrument Technician
During my time with PSN I was employed offshore in the Southern Sector of the North Sea on the Thames Alpha platform operated by Exxon Mobil. I worked on a two weeks on, two weeks off shift rotation. My duties included Fire and Gas maintenance, Instrument maintenance, fault finding and repair, commissioning, shutdown maintenance and repairs planning to ensure that the asset downtime was kept to a minimum, ordering of spares and managing instrument stock levels. I was also an active member of the Emergency Response Team.
Aesica Pharmaceuticals Ltd. 2003 - 2005
Position: Shift Instrument Technician
My role at Aesica Pharmaceuticals involved very similar duties as my previous employment with Rhodia Chirex. The main difference was that the role included working a 12hr shift pattern, both days and nights. During my time with Aesica I was an active member of the Emergency Response squad.
Rhodia Chirex Pharmaceuticals Ltd.1993-2003
Position: Instrument Technician
I joined Rhodia Chirex Pharmaceuticals and served a 4yr Electrical Apprenticeship during which I concentrated on Instrument maintenance in hazardous areas but also have a broad experience of electrical maintenance too.
My roles and responsibilities included regular plant maintenance and inspections; fault finding; commissioning new installations including PLC/DCS systems and associated instrumentation; instrument planned preventative maintenance (P.P.M.'s); coordinating and prioritising work for a team of multi-skilled craftsmen; planning work in advance to provide a fast response and closure of work orders with the use of S.A.P.; regular meetings with Production Team Leaders to discuss maintenance schedules; purchasing of non stock items; adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.'s); communication with external sources and support services; hazardous area audit/repairs; training of apprentices; maintaining a safe working environment with the aid of the Safety Training Observation Programme (S.T.O.P. ,adopted from the Dupont group), carrying out Risk Assessments and the Permit to Work System; whilst maintaining cGMP in all areas.
