EMPLOYMENT

Sept 2005 - Present - Currently employed as a Maintenance Technician within the utilities and energy supply sector at various hospital sites and industrial factories within the north west of England, supplying steam, low temp hot water and power generation to their sites for use in their manufacturing processes or for heating and hot water. Present duties include planned, preventative and reactive maintenance of energy and utilities plant which include industrial boilers ,steam raising plant and there systems incorporating feed water ,condensate, steam, fuel systems and all associated equipment including pipework, valves, pumps, motors, annual insurance inspections, installation and commissioning of new plant, faultfinding and diagnosis of plant, ancillary support equipment and downstream services. Monitoring of plant,and water testing on a daily basis to ensure optimum performance of the plant. Schedules, planned maintenance and production activities in consultation with customer. Testing newly installed plant and equipment, to ensure compliance with requirements, specifications and customer's needs. Compliance with Health and Safety regulations. Permit for work regulations, risk assessments, timely completion of company documentation. Supervising sub-contractors.

June 2005 -Sept 2005 - Production operative at a Paper manufacturing company duties included quality control, responding to breakdowns, operating production control panels.

Oct 2003- May 2005HMNB Clyde - Working as fitter on ships and submarines carrying out planned preventative and breakdown maintenance on a range of mechanical and ancillary support equipment and systems including diesel engines, hpac,s, pumps and valves and all onboard services. Managing a workshop ensuring safe codes of practice are adhered to including COSHH, Risk Assessor, and Quality Procedures. Ensuring lifting equipment and Specialist tools are in date for test. Maintaining tools, equipment and consumables are at an adequate stock level.

May 2003 - Oct 2003 HMS Sultan - Employed as a student on the Diesel Systems Specialist Course, Theoretical and practical modules in internal combustion engines, compressed air systems, fitting and turning, oxyacetylene welding and cutting, abrasive wheel regs, workshop practice, maintenance management and technical drawing awarded Course prize for Overall Sustained Performance in Academics and Practical Modules. Also awarded Craftsman of the Year from The Worshipful Company of Turners.

Nov 2000 - May 2003 HMS Portland - Assisting other Technicians in the day-to-day running of the diesel generator/logistics sections. Maintaining diesel generators, hydraulically operated stabilisers and steering gear. Managing a small team of personnel, undertaking and supervising a wide range of

maintenance and timely defect rectification. Administrative duties including planned maintenance schedules, diesel generator logs, fuel and lube oil usage, COSHH register, and technical publications. Responsible for subordinate safety in the electrical/mechanical isolation of equipment/systems and correct use of tools and equipment. Maintenance of portable fire fighting appliances, high-level hallon/water fire-fighting systems. Safe storage and distribution of bulk fuel. Watch keeping as MEOOW2 as second in command of ships control center at sea, starting, stopping, operating and monitoring all running machinery including main engine gas turbines, diesel generators, air conditioning plants, fuel systems and main switchboards, ensuring all warnings and alarms are acted upon in a safe and timely manner.

Nov 1999-Nov2000 HMS Portland (in build) - Liaising with BAE Systems, contractors, and ships staff personnel in the installation, commissioning and defect rectification of ships equipment and systems.

Mar 1999-Nov 1999 HMNB Clyde - Employed in the General Engineering Support Specialist slinging section working on a range of ships and submarines berthed in HM Naval Base Clyde including the removal and reinstatement of pumps, valves, motors, engines and ancillary equipment.

Oct 1998-Mar 1999 HMS Sultan - Employed as a student on LMEM (M) qualifying course. Theoretical and practical modules in the maintenance and operation of Diesel generators, Gas turbines, Hydraulic systems including steering gear/stabilisers, HP and LP air compressors, HP and LP steam systems, Distilling/desalination plant, Auxiliary boilers, Refrigeration & Air conditioning plant, Sewage treatment plant, Fuel and lube oil centrifuges ,and all associated systems.

Nov 1996-Oct 1998 HMS Arun - Working within the engine room carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on diesel generators, main engines, and ancillary support equipment, watchkeeping as MEOOW and duty technical rating.

Sept 1995-Nov 1996 HMNB Clyde - Employed in the Nuclear Engineering and Welding section assisting senior technicians in the repair and replacement of valves and piping within nuclear submarines using specialist cutting and pipe freezing techniques.

Aug 1992-Sept 1995 HMS York - Working within the engine room assisting senior technicians on gas turbines, fridges, air conditioning plant, aux steam plant, diesel generators, hydraulic systems, desalination plant, hp and lp air systems.

Mar 1991-Aug 1992 HMS Inskip - Watchkeeping duties on emergency diesel generators.

Feb 1988-Mar 1991 HMS Sheraton - Operating and maintaining, diesel generators, propulsion diesel engines, and ancillary support equipment.

Nov 1987-Feb 1988 HMS Sultan - Re-joined the Royal Navy attended a short re training course before joining HMS Sheraton.

Jun 1987-Nov 1987 - Worked for a local company servicing industrial boilers.

Aug 1985-Jun 1987 - Attended Blackburn College studying Mechanical and Production Engineering.

May 1984-Jun 1985 HMS Sultan - Working on the main gate as part of security duties prior to leaving the Royal Navy.
