PROFILE
I am currently working for Saftronics Ltd in Leeds. The company design and build MCC's and Distribution Panels. My current capacity is in an intermediary position, as a Supervisory Test Engineer, before taking on the responsibilities of my official job title as Electrical Design Engineer. Unfortunately, I have found that this role is not and won't be suitable for me and I am looking to move on and progress with my career.
In my last position I worked as a Facilities Management Technician for a sub-division of Christian Salvesens, on a mobile / field service basis. I was based at home and alternated around 5 sites, covering the North East region from Doncaster to Washington. 3 sites are Recycling / Tray wash centres in joint partnership with supermarkets and 2 are Distribution Centres with Lorry Repair Workshops.
I consider myself to be a mature, hard working member of the team and company as a whole. I try to be friendly and approachable at all times, enabling good communication between colleagues, managers, supervisors and external personnel. I've found this to be very important in any role, especially when moving around sites, ordering parts from suppliers and completing administration.
Having completed my Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering, which I feel has greatly improved my skills and me as a worker, I have had to demonstrate my ability to do different tasks and use many techniques. I'm always willing to learn and I will always do my best to accomplish any tasks that are set before me, no matter how challenging. I enjoy being hands-on, staying active and getting involved in a variety of different projects. Although I feel I can competently work alone, I do not have a problem with asking for advice when and where needed or working with other individuals and as a group.
Due to the nature of my training and education I am electrically biased, but I have a lot of experience with pneumatics and have been involved in plenty of general mechanical work, including hydraulics and basic plumbing, installing services etc. I therefore see myself as a well-rounded Multi-Skilled Engineer.
In my previous role I tended to specialise in the various PLC controlled systems, taking a responsibility for the Auto-Assembly section. I've mainly used the software to monitor and fault-find, but I have also written some programs and made alterations. I also used to do designing and building of control panels and units for production e.g. quality control jigs. I have good experience in all types of installation work. This could be new machinery or electrical equipment, general electrical wiring and various conduit fitting or upgrading of existing equipment.
I have a full driving licence and I am registered with the JIB on the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme as a Maintenance Electrician, with the added disciplines of Electrical Fitter and Instruments Mechanic.
