Work Experience

TSL Plc (Leeds) - Current

TSL is a medical device company that is audited against the requirements of ISO13485 and the FDA CFR 21, therefore compliance with and in depth knowledge of quality management systems, change control requirements, and GMP is and was essential for both roles. Awareness of regulatory requirements (in association with product line extensions and process changes) for the EU, US, Canada and Australia is also necessary. Early in my employment I gained an in depth understanding of the product and it's characteristics, therefore allowing me to expand my role and provide technical advice and support and partake in technical and scientific projects alongside those related to operations. All of the projects and initiatives require me to work entirely on my own initiative, manage my own time, demonstrate confidence in my decisions and ensure project team members are motivated and committed to the projects. It is also necessary for me to regularly realign project priorities and manage multiple projects in tandem. Communication across all levels of the business, along with suppliers, contractors and customers is also a key part of the job. The following are roles that I have held within the company to date:

Strategic Projects Manager August 06 - Current (Reason for Leaving - Redundancy)

Reporting to the Associate Director of Strategic Projects I am responsible for overseeing a range of strategic company wide projects within a regulated Medical Device manufacturers. Projects include and have included management of clean areas (Class 8) build for NPD department, microbiological and sterility assurance study, WiFi electronic temperature monitoring system for production areas, packaging equipment revalidation, raw material farm assured scheme review, full review and process assessment of a new product line ready for transfer into Operations and product launch. I also supported my previous role for a period of around 9 months prior to recruitment of a replacement. This is a line management role within a recently created TSL department.

Project Manager - Technical Services/Operations January 03 - August 06

Reporting to the Operations Director I was responsible for managing and executing numerous projects. These included product line extensions (for own label and distributor/partner products), labelling changes, new equipment introduction, product packaging department relocations (3 in total), technical studies, introduction of packaging material changes, investigational and technical support, technical report writing (including supporting of technical decisions made by myself to support process changes or quality issues (including microbiological)), procedure writing and creation for department relocations, operational staff training, troubleshooting, customer interface and audit support, process and equipment validation (URS, FAT, IOQ, PQ), design requirements (inputs/outputs, design history file reviews) reviews and design documentation generation.

OCG Cacao (Worksop)

Quality Supervisor: January 02 - January 03 (Reason for Leaving: New Role Opportunity)

In this role I was responsible for the quality department (including microbiology department) within a bulk chocolate manufacturing plant. Role included ensuring product quality, support to operations staff in relation to product quality decisions and compliance issues, creation of quality system, investigations into quality problems, supervision of cleaning contractors and quality control staff, and facilitation of both supplier and customer audits.

Operations Scientist: March 2000 - January 02 (Reason for Leaving: Company Instability)

Responsible for set up of aseptic manufacturing process, quality control tests (including LAL Endotoxin testing), stability studies for a medical device company (vascular adhesive). I also introduced a microbiology laboratory including the creation of all procedures and test methods and supervised a member of staff.

Various temporary assignments (March 97 - March 2000 )

Microbiology and Chemistry Technician - Proctor and Gamble (Wakefield)

Skills included microbiology analysis for TVCs, Moulds, Salmonella, Listeria, Clostridium, organism identification (gram staining, API) and chemical analysis including HPLC, spectroscopy, and standard bench techniques.
