Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Engineer over the Technical Support and Project department, co-ordinating technical assistance to all departments.
  • Direct responsibility for the Project department, whose purpose and scope was to deal with non-breakdown maintenance and capital investment projects. Ensuring installations within safety guidelines.
  • Continual Improvements - Improving overall processes and quality issues including process development and line efficiency, with the implementation of kaizen techniques and total planned maintenance.
  • Feasibility study on new and modified product assembly.
  • Production planning using MRP and Electronic Kanban system, implemented monitoring system to forecast production and costs.
  • Problem solving with FMEA to anticipate and prevent problems on projects.
  • Project management using Microsoft Project and creating technical documentation for invitation to tender of projects and risk assessments, meeting departmental objectives.
  • Financial control dealing with capital investment on manufacturing systems.
  • Liaison with heads of department to seek solutions within operational plan.
  • Design/modification of tooling, jigs and fixtures also optimise plant layout with use of AutoCad 2004 and Inventor 7.0 solid modelling.
  • Training - AutoCad/Kaizen techniques to personnel users.

Career Achievements:

· CI-K Automatic handling system Project leader; installation and interface of injection moulding/Laser marking/Robotic transfer conveyor machines and CNC milling cell for Moeller CI-K products.

· Implemented interim documentation of a £1.5million operation plant, optimising the assets within the new plant.

· Power press project leader to streamline efficiency taking into account the number of production personnel available to meet production demand.

· Implemented an automatic laser marking unit, reducing environmental issues by replacing manual printing and engraving equipment. This reduced manpower, enabling them to be redeployed to other key areas.

· Set up an automatic bagging unit replacing the existing manual machines, which reduced manpower , maintenance downtime and increasing the capacity for further sales.

· Depalletising project - To develop and modify existing PLC contolled depalletising units improving the efficiency of the general assembly department.
