QUALIFICATIONSMSc. Water Pollution Control Technology

CranfieldUniversity, Bedfordshire2004 - 2005

My course has provided me with an understanding of the science and technology that underpins water and wastewater treatment. I have completed the course's 10 taught modules, including:

• Process Science and Engineering,

• Physical Processes

• Chemical Processes,

• Biological Processes,

• Membrane Technology,

• Process Design for Sustainability,

• Sludge and Odour Management,

• Project and Financial Management.

As part of the course we undertake two group design projects producing tenders for retrofit solutions to real-life treatment works problems, one wastewater and one potable water.

A major component of the course is the individual thesis. Project management, technical writing, problem solving and effective communication are just some of the transferable skills honed during my project.

Thesis Title: 'BAT assessment and implications of introducing higher strength leachates to an existing treatment facility: A case study.'

BSc (Hons). Geology & Physical Geography

KeeleUniversity, Staffordshire 2000 - 2003

Course covered a range of specialised subjects in modular form, including palaeontology, geophysics and structural geology.

Honors course projects;

Geology: Technical Report, Villamanin.

Conducted a 4 week period mapping 9 km 2 of mountainous terrain near the remote village of Villamanin, Spain. From the resulting map and field data, I wrote a technical report detailing the palaeoenvironments responsible for the strata seen in the field, palaeoecology and geological evolution of the mapping area, set in a regional context.

Physical Geography: Sedimentology and Geomorphology of the Teign Estuary.

From fieldwork, desk-based research and laboratory work I produced a thesis on the

sedimentology and geomorphology (and flow regime responsible) of the Teign Estuary, South Devon.
