Invited to join Metronet Alliance as Project Director through a London based employment consultancy.
Responsible for the delivery into service of multiple London Underground (LUL) Stations within the East of London currently being modernised/refurbished under the 30 year PPP Service contract.
Main duties include direct management of PPP Stakeholders Balfour Beatty, EDF Energy, Engenica and Atkins including, Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Senior Project Engineers, Design Engineers and supporting activities through:
Facilitate design delivery
Liaise with and support the Scoping and Initiation Team to achieve timely issue of RS (Requirement Schedule) 1, RS2 and RS3.
Ensure Design and Construction Affiliates interrogate designs to minimise cost and optimise programme
Support Scoping and Initiation team to achieve RS3 sign-off with LUL.
Ensure timely completion of designs through to AFC.
Manage TQ system through site based design team.
Ensure effective pre-construction preparation.
Review and communicate plans with Partners and ensure alignment and commitment to delivery against programmes.
Ensure arrangements for access and closures are consistent with requirements for safe, efficient and productive site working.
Ensure through close liaison with L&E team that Specials works are effectively integrated with the Stations programme.
Manage construction and handover performance to a high standard
Ensure the team is adequately resourced and competent.
Lead, support and coach team to deliver safe and effective teamwork. Develop, train and motivate staff
Manage and monitor the performance of the team for HSE, cost and schedule performance and productivity improvements.
Implement effective and consistent change-control, approval and handover procedures
Report and communicate progress and performance against KPIs
Drive effective and transparent issue management, building good relationships with Affiliates.
Responsible under CDM Regulations as Appointed DER (Designated Employers Representative)
Close Client Stakeholder liaison to maximise delivery of strategic business and operational policies.

Appointed to the position of Operations Manager. Responsible for overseeing and managing day to day activities of the Power, Civils and Facilities Management division of First Engineering Ltd (South). Main duties include:-Business Development, delivery and financial reporting of Southern Divisional Operations. Responsible for operationally and financially restructuring the Facilities Management Division (South) to enhance delivery on Network Rail Major Stations Framework covering 11 of the 17 Major Stations in the UK.
Also member of First Engineering's London Spearhead team responsible for identifying and tendering multi-disciplined rail contracts within the M25.
Examples:
East London Line £420m Bid. Gained final round negotiations with TFL. Failed to secure contract due to Parent Company decision not to proceed at final stages.
Docklands Light Rail Depot Extension at Beckton East London, value £13m.
Also, responsible for First Engineering's diversification and development within the Republic of Ireland.
Managing and delivering a joint venture bid team as Lead Project Manager between First Engineering, Laing O'Rouke, Mott Macdonald and Franklin Andrews for new Design & Build depot capacity enhancement facilities at Portlaois, County Laois, value EU70m. These works were on behalf of Irish Rail as part of the Irish Government's Transport 21 policy for infrastructure reinforcement.
February 2003 to July 2005
Promoted to the position of Contracts Manager, reporting to
the Contracts and Operations Director.
Responsible for delivering and reporting multi - million pounds valued
projects within the Power & Civils Division of First Engineering
(formerly Jackson Eve).
Duties include managing a team of Project Managers and associated staff
including Engineers, Planners, SQE Managers and Quantity Surveyors.
Also responsible for exploiting new business markets including London
Underground and direct interface with rail infrastructure.
Tasked with leading a team to writing First Engineering Head Assurance
Plan for London Underground.

After sub-contracting for VI Services Ltd, a High Voltage
Engineering company based in Leicestershire for most of the company's
life, the opportunity came for me to join VI Services Ltd as an employee.
I joined VI Services as Senior Sales Engineer responsible for accessing
and diversifying the business into more Commercial and Industrial
contracts. Opportunity led to transfer across to joint venture partner
First Engineering (originally Jackson Eve), part of the Peterhouse Group
as Senior Projects Manager, reporting to Contracts Manager.
Managed Major Power & Civils Contracts on Network Rail Infrastructure
with particular focus to timeous completion to budget and programme
whilst adopting safe systems of work in line with company and client
process and procedures.
▪ 1999 - 2001
East Midlands Electricity acquired by Powergen PLC, this led
to Severance Terms being offered to most of the Distribution Business
staff. This gave me the perfect opportunity to start my own business.
NT Power Solutions Ltd was formed and traded as a company in its own
right until 05.07.2001, the company's primary business was HV & LV
consultancy and termination work on consumer owned networks and
switchgear.
▪ 1986 - 1999
Joined East Midlands Electricity as Craft Apprentice Electrician. Became fully qualified Electrician 1990, working with East Midlands Electricity on Industrial and Commercial Projects.
Re-organisation of East Midlands Electricity led to a transfer to the Distribution business. Trained as Band 5 cable jointer working on all LV & HV Network Systems up to and including 11Kv.
Authorised Competent person to receive:-
PTW (Permit to Work at .4/6.6/11kv), LOA (limitation of access .4/6.6/11kv), Access to all operational premises at .4/6.6/11kv, Pole Top Rescue, Band 5 Technician
After successfully leading a team of distribution operatives in the field was given the opportunity as Project manager of New Business Connections. This role was responsible for pricing and executing all new and upgrade load enquires across the overhead and under ground distribution network within the East Midlands area.
Duties included: Scope initiation, procurement, planning and delivering service requirements set down by the regulator.
