Works Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager, I was responsible for the operation of a structural steelwork fabrication facility producing up to 35,000 tonnes of structures per annum. The facility employed 650 permanent employees and up to 250 hired men were brought in to meet additional production targets when necessary.

I oversaw the operation of all departments within the fabrication facility, which comprised:

Works planning and scheduling

Material control department

Material preparation

Fabrication shops

Surface treatment.

I ensured production targets were met, quality standards were maintained and that the health, safety and welfare of all employees was maintained and continuously improved.

Between 2005 and 2007 I was additionally charged with the conceptual design, specifying and purchase of plant and equipment, and the construction of a further 25,000 tonne capacity fabrication facility which was required to meet increased demand.

1998-2001

Contracts Manager.

Reporting to the General Manager, I took overall responsibility for the running of all contracts secured by the Company, from contract award to completion. I liaised directly with all clients and also with internal departments such as the design department, drawing office and the fabrication works. I directly supervised a team of project managers.

I was also responsible for the installation of the structural steelwork at site. In this respect, I oversaw teams of site staff.

Estimating Manager

Responsible for the activities of the Estimating Department and for marketing within Dubai and the Northern Emirates area.

Contracts Manager.

Responsible for the day to day running of all ongoing projects. Covered all aspects of planning and organisation of contracts from award to final handover.

Proposals Manager.

Responsible for marketing of the company's products and services in connection with major projects in the Arabian Gulf Area, Far East and Africa.

Responsible for all 'supply-only' Contracts, from initial award to final completion.

Project Manager on ALBA Potline 4 Project at Aluminium Bahrain BSc (C).

Responsible for overall supervision of erection of steelwork, cladding and other associated works of new potrooms within the Aluminium Smelter.

Involved in the construction of North Sea Oil and Gas Production Modules. Responsible for the daily engineering works for all sections of structural and mechanical fitout, painting, fireproofing, pipework, loadout and seafastening of modules in excess of 3000 tonnes.

Responsible for all aspects of erection of structural steelwork and metal decking on this prestigious head quarters building for the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency.

Redcar Ore Unloader Project.

Site Engineer

Involved in the erection of a 3000 tonnes per hour ore ship to shore unloader for British Steel Redcar Works, under a erection sub-contract from Adamson Butterley Engineers who were the suppliers of the unloader.

Worked as Structural Designer in the Darlington Design Office gaining design experience for the Institution of Civil Engineers membership entrance examination.

Site Engineer at Littlebrook 'D' Powerstation Dartford Kent.

Responsible for the modification of steelwork components before and after erection. Approximately 2500 modifications were required due to design changes. My involvement was to ensure as many modifications were completed prior to erection. This involved both on-site alterations for more simple works or using local fabricators to undertake more complex work.
