B29 Local Effluent Treatment Plant

Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

Mechanical Engineer as part of a team working on a Local Effluent Treatment Plant reducing activity levels in B29 pond water before and during retrieval operations, allowing the effluent to be discharged to LA drain within safe limits.

LETP Factory Works Testing / Inactive Plant Performance Commissioning:

· Mechanical/Process pre-energising checks against Engineers Flow Diagrams and Process Pipe Specifications.

· Energising of services including R1 wast water, compressed air and domestic water.

· Single item operations testing on actuated valves, pumps, calibration of tanks/vessels, sample cabinets, polyelectrolyte preparation/dosing skids.

· Integrated item operations involving removal and replacement of spent cartridges, cartridge grab operations, setting up of process flow feed and discharge skids.

· Sequence and interlock testing of valves, pumps and instruments.

· Vendor testing for Factory Acceptance Test Documentation giving approval of conformity of the process skids and the cartridge hydrogen vent valves.

· System cycle demonstrations involving factory testing simulating site conditions using Temporary Commissioning Aids and on site demonstrations involving sequences and mechanical operations.

· Maintenance trials following Maintenance Instructions to confirm they can be validated.

· Recovery mode testing the mechanical grab and lowering platform can be operated manually after failure of normal working operation.

· Mechanical handling of lowering platform, cartridge grab, ion exchange cartridges, weights, valves and pipe work.

· Proof testing of mechanical safety mechanisms.

· Training and Supervising of BNG Operatives.

· Validating Operating/Maintenance Instructions.

· Preparing Inactive Plant Performance Commissioning documents (IPPC).

· Punch systems and Red Line EFD's to As Built status.

· Work within IPPC scope executing tests and completing documentation.

· Creating and compiling the Safety Transfer Certificate package.

Mechanical Engineer as part of a team working on B29 Retrievals Skip Tipper and Skip Wash facilities provided to wash out skips and consolidate contents, in order to enable the number of skips within B29 pond to be reduced.

Inactive Plant Performance Commissioning.

· Punch systems and Red Line EFD's to As Built status.

Providing technical and practical support to Operations and Maintenance Teams on Building Services.

· Working to Operating and Maintenance Instructions on safety mechanisms and safety related equipment.

· Nominated Person for mechanical isolations.

· Maintenance carried out on: air handling units, extract fans, hot water calorifiers, steam/compressed air pressure systems, pumps, header tanks, high pressure steam coils & valves.

Commissioning Technician

Technician as part of a commissioning team working on Building Services to include:

· Working from EFD's (Engineer Flow Diagrams) and system specifications.

· Carry out Punch Lists of systems.

· Update EFD's including Red Lines to As Built status.

· Raise FOB's (Fault Observations).

· Check seals & valve orientation.

· Carry out clear line checks, incorporating TCA's (Temporary Commissioning Aids).

· Initial energising and commissioning of all systems.
