CAREER HISTORY
BRITISH TELECOMMUNICATIONS GROUP PLC 09/95 - Present
BT IP NETWORKING In Life Commercial Manager 03/07 - Present
· Recently taken on the commercial responsibility for BT's Applications Assured Infrastructure (AAI) product set, combining this with an existing network performance reporting role. This new role, as a result of a colleague's retirement, involves the business development and day-to-day commercial activities for this global product suite. AAI generated £4.5M of direct sales in 06/07 and pulled through a further £157M of other Sales. The role includes collateral production, price setting, profit and loss control, bid responses, sales training, supplier management, global channel launches and product development direction. As applications are a new line of business for BT, there is little expertise to fall back on so this role is very much a pioneering activity.
· Objectives and achievements:
Provided design and bid pricing to a number of Fortune 500 companies including Owens Illinois, at £1.1M, AAI's single largest order to date.
Took on responsibility for an unknown product set from a departing colleague, at very short notice.
BT IP NETWORKING Product Manager 09/03 - 03/07
· Commercial Product Manager for the Performance Reporting Service, responsible for the day-to-day commercial activities of the reporting service. Including bid responses, setting pricing, profit and loss control, training and supplier management. Also member of a Pan BT interest group looking at how to integrate and consolidate BT's myriad of reporting platforms; give one view to the customer; and looking at how these reporting systems should interface to BT's network management systems and processes to deliver an ITIL Service Management type function.
· Objectives and achievements:
Delivered a number of sales presentations to IT Directors, CIOs and IT Staff on the benefits and features of the reporting system. Delivered product training to external customers and BT staff at all levels.
Member of Computer Associates eHealth User Board, providing feedback to product management VPs and the CEO on BT's requirements and suggested product development direction.
Produced a blue print design of how BT's reporting, network management and SLA systems could be integrated to deliver an ITIL Service Management type console to both our internal operations teams and the end customers.
Increased the sales of the reporting service by 44% in 05/06, to £4.0M p.a., 25% over target. This was particularly successful as in the same period the other value added services stayed flat or fell.
BT Convergent Solutions Technical Design Authority 07/03 - 09/03
· Took on Technical Design Authority role for new performance reporting solution due to lack of project progress. Designed an automated end-to-end solution to facilitate the Sales, Provision, Commissioning and Delivery of reports to a customer with no human intervention in four weeks. The design involved understanding our end-to end business processes and then updating our Sales Tools, Order Processing and Inventory database with the information necessary to take and record a reporting order. It was then necessary to design a completely new interface between the inventory database and the new reporting system. This interface provided all the information necessary for the reporting system to discover, configure, build reports and generate the customer interface with no human intervention.
BT CONVERGENT SOLUTIONS Business Enterprise Manager 06/02 - 07/03
· Promotion to Commercial Lead for the Enterprise Management Project. BT CONNECTIVITY SOLUTIONS Business Enterprise Engineer 09/01 - 06/02
· Working in a small team responsible for network management strategy, providing a planned and coordinated approach, across the whole of BT Managed Services, to refresh the management tools and services. The role involved commercial investigations into the best practices (sources such as the embryonic ITIL definitions) and making strategic decisions on solutions which gave the lowest per unit costs with the maximum of value added facilities.
BT IGNITE SOLUTIONS Development Manager 05/00 - 09/01
· Technical Design Authority and Team Leader for the business analysis and requirements capture team for the BT Sales Tools and responsible for the overall project delivery. Led the design team who delivered a complete re-architecture of the BT Sales Tools personally providing the high level design and project direction. BT SYNCORDIA SOLUTIONS Design Manager 05/98 - 05/00
· Responsible for the technical specifications, for all developments to the automated network design and pricing sales tool used by the BT Sales force. This tool not only provided a solution for the customer but also generated an automated order, which was interfaced directly to the order entry systems. It was therefore necessary to understand all elements of the order entry and delivery to insure all the data required had been captured and outputted by the sales tool. As part of the role presented face-to-face training to the new BT North America sales force and provided bid support on the tools to the sales helpdesk.
