Summary of Experience

I am a Planning Engineer with experience within Mainline Railway and Construction projects throughout the UK. My experience includes Planning roles on Rail and Construction projects with responsibility for planning and monitoring P3 Schedules; formulation and monitoring of levels 1 to 4 programmes; production of key performance indicators; resource, cost & measure performance against the agreed baseline plan. I have also, co-ordinated and Converted P3 schedules to P3e/c for Enterprise under Grip processes.

I am currently a consultant with Network Rail assigned to their Olympics project (£500m); I am responsible for pulling together the tender programmes and managing the 3 rd Party Contracts. As well as leading the planning function within Olympics programme team, providing guidance and direction to other planners, and ensuring quality and consistency of all planning and associated reporting.

Previous Planning roles include West Coast Route Modernisation (WCRM) Project. Other roles were Planning Engineer on the Wye to Minster £18m re-signalling scheme.

I have previously lived and worked in Japan. It was a short term contract for six months where I learned to converse in Japanese and I am currently learning French. I enjoy being challenged in my work and relish working in an organisation that recognises and values achievement.

I regard myself as highly computer literate with experience in software such as Primavera P3e/c, P3, QEI Time Chainage, MS Project, PMCS, CAMS, Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Lotus Notes.

Role is producing the producing the programmes for the 2012 Project, Managing Staff and Contractors. Ensuring Cost and Reporting Process are adhered to and reporting Process to the Network Rail Board/Clients.

Tender Planner

Current Role was producing the tender programme for a Tranche of underground works (£36m); Working to the NEC form of contact and using Bills of Quantities and P3ec version 5, reporting to the Business Development Director, I was also seconded to site for four weeks to cover for the planning Manager on Chalk and Kentish Town site.

· Development of the Fully Resourced and cost loaded programmes

· Contributing to the prescribed Schedule and Cost Performance Control processes set out in the Sub-contract

· Providing planning support services to the Project delivery and commercial management.

Senior Construction Planner

Role was managing schedule for Underground Construction (Metropolitan & Circle line) works as well as measuring progress. I was involved with producing the pre tender programme as well as evaluating the Tender return Programmes. Principal Accountabilities were:

  • Develop the 16-week Rolling Programme at Level 4
  • Develop the 5-week Rolling Programme (Work Plan Level 5)
  • Provide inputs to the weekly progress report and 4-weekly Period Progress Review Report, including current performance indicators and analysis derived from quantified progress / actual labour hours / actual costs inputted on to the PMP, identifying any significant schedule and costs variances to be explained / further investigated. Also report on the status of forecasted achievement of Interface Milestones, and the contract Completion dates.
  • Co-ordination and construction of the Atkins' progress reports to the client

Jacobs/Network Rail- Podium Euston Nov 2004 - June 2005

Planner

Role was migration of Network Rail's estates department P3 schedules into the new system (P3e) in a measurable form thus enabling management to exercise effective project controls through the life cycle of all the projects in the organisation.

  • Developing the P3 activity codes, EPS & WBS structure
  • Importing estates programmes to P3e
  • Ongoing development of day - to - day programmes

Project Planner

Role was Preparation and monitoring of a resource loaded P3e/c programme for the East London Line project (£1.2bn), Work was originally planned on P3 however, we converted to P3e and I was in charge of Managing the conversion of P3 schedules into a fully functioning resource driven P3e/c Schedule.

  • Preparation of annual budget into P3 programme,

· Development of the construction programme associated with the project team, stakeholders and with all its external Interfaces.

  • Support the Procurement Manager and Project Engineers in scheduling requirements for materials deliveries.

· Support the Commercial Manager, in establishing contractual schedule and costs from the programme

  • Support the Project Managers in developing and maintaining their rolling cost loaded works programmes to facilitate schedule and budgetary control of activities to Work Plan Level 5.

· Direct Reports to Director.

February 2003 - January 2004 Parson Brinkerhoff / Network Rail (Area Planner)

West Coast Route, Glasgow

Role was Planner on the West Coast Route Modernisation (WCRM) Project. I set up planning team/Procedures, Implemented a Universal coding Structure with contractors. Facilitated the planning interface between the Areas, alliances & Possession planning Team.

August 2002 - February 2003 Amec Spie Rail Limited, (Planner)

Wimbledon, London

Role was Planning Production of a P3 Programme for Bridge guard and initial set up for Wye to Minster £18m resignalling scheme, which was cost/resource loaded based on the target estimate. Day to day management of the overall P3 programmes. Productions of a weekly reporting pack containing resource/cost graphic, earned value graphs and progress reports.

Trainee Planner where I developed my P3 and planning skills: Preparation and monitoring of a resource loaded P3 programme on a portfolio of structures under Bridge Guard 3.
