My main duty is to negotiate with the BAGH PFI providers on behalf of the Trust in order to shape the delivery of effective facilities services by managing the protocol in which the contracted services are provided. To provide the link between the Clinical Heads of Service and the PFI providers on matters relating to Facilities in both Hard and Soft FM. To work in partnership with the Trusts PFI Partner and interface with the Service Providers to ensure that high Standards are maintained throughout the contract period.

Based at Bishop Auckland General Hospital.

My main duty is to negotiate with the BAGH PFI providers on behalf of the Trust in order to shape the delivery of effective facilities services by managing the protocol in which the contracted services are provided. Responsible for all projects requiring C.D.M. notification.

i) Manage all contracts under Bona Fida Tender Procedures to be carried out to all JCT Contract requirements

ii) I arrange the implementation of the capital, minor capital and larger revenue maintenance works undertaken.

iii) Assist in formulation of the annual budget costs and carrying out detailed feasibility studies for Administrative decisions to prioritise.

iv) Purchase and co-ordinate private consultants and technical staff on associated projects.

v) Prepare briefs and take responsibility as project design team leader.

vi) Ensures that statutory responsibilities of the Trust are fulfilled and provide specialist advice to the Director of Planning including liaison with and submitting applications to local planning authorities.

vii) Prepare detailed surveys and reports on the condition of the building stock, including the annual updating of the condition survey reports.

viii) Prepare and submit reports on matters relating to Estate Management including in-depth assessments of building defects.

ix) Carry out optional appraisal exercises, prepare cost estimates and comparison for various alternatives including assessment of the effects on both short and long term expenditure.

x) Ensure correct tendering procedures are observed and maintain financial control over all contracted work.

xi) Keep up to date on construction related matters and implement good practice and policies laid down by Statutory Departments and other - non-statutory bodies, which influence construction and building services.

xii) Deputise at meetings as required.

xiii) Clerk of Works on minor capital, administration and capital works.

xiv) Comply with ISO9001 Certification.

xv) Operate AutoCAD Lt 98 , Word , Excel , and Microsoft Project up to Windows 98

CAREER HISTORY

1992 - Oct. 98 CAPITAL PROJECT OFFICER (Bishop Auckland Hospitals - N.H.S. Trust)

Responsible for the Capital and Revenue Project Schemes from concept to completion within time and budget. (Many as previously mentioned)

Responsible to the Capital Project Sponsor.

The Capital Project Officer is required to implement the capital and small works programme as required by the Director of Facilities and Capital Project Sponsor.

Accountable to the Capital Project Sponsor and responsible for the design and execution of the building contracts engaged.

1984 - 1992 ESTATES OFFICER Planning and Development ( South Durham Health Authority )

The duties are contained in the summary above, with secondary responsibility.

1977 - 1984 SECTOR BUILDING OFFICER Operational and Development (South Durham Heath Authority)

Based at Winterton Hospital, which is a large mental unit of approximately 1,000 beds and Community Hospital, Sedgefield of 160 beds.

I was responsible for the organising and implementing of the programme of minor building capital works, backlog maintenance and co-ordinating the work of building and engineering craftsmen, acting as Clerk of Works on major capital schemes.

The Direct Labour force consisted of 24 engineers, 28 building trade workers and 10 gardening staff to carry out care and maintenance of buildings, having an approximate total of 300,000 cubic metres and an area of grounds totalling 42 hectares.
