Employment

March 2004 to present - SEMPI, M&E division of Byzak Limited, Manchester

SEMPI (Specialist Electrical and Mechanical Process Installations), as part of Byzak, are involved in various different engineering projects countrywide, working for major companies as primary contractors.

I am responsible for various Project Engineering Roles, including identifying & procurement of plant, coordination of the design deliverables (As Built Drawings, schedules, calculations etc) by sub contractors and designers, coordination of on-site activity by engineers and sub contractors, production of Operating, Maintenance, Technical & Commissioning manuals, production of necessary site documents such as asset registers, method statements, risk assessments, HAZOP reports etc for various different M&E applications.

In particular I have been involved in projects for large companies such as major water boards and Coal Authorities (United Utilities, Scottish Water, Northumbrian Water Limited, The Coal Authority etc). Projects include Wastewater Treatment Works, Water Treatment Works, Odour Control installations, CSO improvements etc. Projects can range from minor instrument replacements to full treatment work installations.

My work involves travelling to site to liaise with engineers, site based staff and the client.

I have an assistant Technical Author working on the projects in the North East of England, and a team of Technical Clerks at the Scotland office, working under my supervision.

I have also been involved in the production of mechanical and electrical drawings, schematics, general arrangement diagrams etc in AutoCAD where necessary to assist the engineering team.

I have contributed to the updating and running of the company Intranet, involving the inputting and updating of company information, available for all staff to access.

October 1997 to February 2004 - End Systems Ltd, Leigh, Lancashire

Initially I worked in the Drawing department, where I was trained on AutoCAD, producing Building Services drawings, and getting involved in site surveys. Projects included the Trafford Centre in Manchester, Reebok Stadium in Bolton etc.

I then went on to be based on site as a Technical Clerk before progressing to become a Technical Author. I was responsible for the production & coordination of Project Data Books, following the strict validation processes imposed on such pharmaceutical projects.

Following this project, I continued from the office as a Technical Author. My main responsibility was the production of mechanical Operating and Maintenance manuals for a number of different Building Services projects, producing technical information, plus collating all the necessary documents such as 'As Built' Drawings etc

A large part of my time was site based at AstraZeneca PLC in Alderley Park, Cheshire, where I was working as a Design Co-ordinator. This covered design, building structure, building services and health & safety information, in regards to all aspects of building construction. I was also responsible for the supervision of an assistant technical clerk working directly under me.

Another responsibility was the site surveying of layout drawings for mechanical services, which I would then modify to As Fitted status on AutoCAD.

Summer 1995 - Isotemp Ductwork Ltd, Cwmbran, South Wales

My time at this ductwork manufacturing company was primarily spent in the manufacturing department, with some time spent in the offices where I received some training in computers and printing e.g. Dye line printing of drawings.
