IDD Ltd was formed in 1997 in order to expand on business opportunities acquired as a self-employed Engineer. Some of IDD Ltd's clients are listed below, the most recent first.

Jaguar Aug 04- May 07;

Working as Project Engineer for Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, I designed and managed the procurement of all paint shop hardware & tooling, to take both the X400 Jaguar and L359 Freelander Landrover bodies through the finishing processes of the Halewood plant. Whilst design & drafting work was carried out on Catia, I worked closely with suppliers, paint shop workforce & management to find solutions and procure prototypes for early builds through to final production support.

Landrover Mar 02- Aug 04;

Working as a Project Engineer for Advanced Manufacturing Engineering within the paint shop I designed and managed the procurement of all paint slave tooling, to take the L319 Discovery 3 and L320 Rangerover Sport bodies through the electro-coating, priming and paint finishing processes. Design & drafting work was carried out on Catia, VPM, & 4DNAV. I worked closely with suppliers to procure prototypes for early product builds as well as volumes for final production support.

TWR Manufacturing Oct 01-Mar 02;

Kidlington:

Developed plant layout proposals for the resiting of TWR's competition engine design, build & test operations from Kidlington to their new facility.

Leafield tech centre:

Working as one of three engineers constituting a Facilities Team, I worked on the plant layout for a 25000 vehicle per year pilot plant to be built in China. The GM project was a radical new concept for volume production motor vehicles and as such required a lot of imaginative problem solving and trips to site in China during the construction phase.

G-Mat Feb 01- Nov 01;

Working on Mechanical Desktop V5 3D software I worked on the design of high speed robotic handling equipment & conveyor systems for the injection moulding industry. The machinery was designed using innovative composite material technology to withstand high G loads whilst unloading moulding machines in very short cycle times, transporting the components & then stacking them in bins according to the customer's requirements.

Markem Technology Jul 00-Dec 00;

I was recruited as a Mechanical Engineer to assist in the design, and modification of a range of advanced high speed printing machines. I was also responsible for the updating of all associated 'Bill of Material' and 'Assembly Structure' information kept on the Chameleon database, as well as the procurement of prototypes and the presentation of written reports, at weekly meetings, to justify any production relevant modifications. The design work was done on Solid Designer 3D CAD software.

Hymatic Engineering Nov 99-Apr 00;

As a Design Engineer I was recruited to assist in the design, and preparation for production, of a sophisticated remote operated butterfly valve which formed part of the cockpit environmental control system for a well known fighter aircraft. The design work had to be performed to the very high standards required by the military aerospace sector. This project included the design of setting fixtures and test rigs as well as the valve itself.

Horizon Biscuits Jul 99-Nov99;

As Project Engineer I was recruited by an engineering consultancy to assist in the construction of a new biscuit production line, from raw ingredient through to packaging of final product. This £7m project included some major civil engineering issues as well as all the usual aspects of clean and hygienic food manufacture.

RNA Automation Jul 99;

Miniature conveyors and vibratory feeders. Manipulation and orientation of minute and lightweight components.

CoventryUniversityJun 99;

IBM accredited training course on CATIA, covering Basics, Dynamic Sketcher, Solids, Drafting and Basic Surface Design.

Crown Simplimatic Oct 98-May 99;

Stainless steel fabricated conveyors for bottling plant in Germany on Acad 14.

ABB Combustion Jul 98-Sep 98;

Compressor installations for the fuelling of gas turbines and boiler ancillaries for PF fired power stations in 3d on Mech. Desktop.

Belliss & Morcom Jun 98-Jul 98;

Compressor installations for the fuelling of gas turbines on Acad 13.

Wellman Graham May 98-Jun 98;

Heat exchangers & pressure vessels for the petro-chemical industry, on Acad 14.

Brickhouse Steel Fabrications Apr 98-May 98;

I designed the flooring layout of the new Boulton & Watt room at The Royal Museum of Scotland, on Acad12, a drayman's access for Lincoln College Oxford, also on Acad 12

and a locking mechanism for manhole covers at Hong Kong Airport in 3d on Acad 13.

Adcon Holdings Nov 96-Apr 98;

As the principle Project Engineer I co-ordinated and liased between a number of sub-contractors in the design of the largest materials recycling facility to be built in Europe. The entire plant layout was also modelled in 3d on Acad 14 by myself.

Sunrise Medical Jan 96-Oct 96

Research and development of small electric vehicles for the disabled and infirm. My responsibilities included design and liaison with suppliers, in a high pressure environment, to source components at very short lead times for prototype construction and testing, using Acad 11, 12 &13.

Sankey Vending Ltd. Feb 90-Jan 96

Design and development of devices and mechanisms, which constitute a range of food and drink vending machines, such as cup dispensers, mixing chambers, ingredient canisters and brewer units. A detailed knowledge of injection moulding, vacuum forming, extrusion and sheet metal fabrication techniques and applications was acquired. Design work was performed on a solid modelling CAD/CAM system (ME10, ME30 & Radan) involving rapid prototyping technology. I also developed skills in Technical Authorship during this time, which I used in combination with the 3d Cad data to produce Technical & Parts Manuals for the machines I helped design.

FloBin (UK) Ltd. Jun 89-Feb 90

Design of batch production plant in the food and pharmaceutical industry. I designed specialist equipment such as 'tumble blenders' and 'batch bin dischargers' often working with titanium, aluminium and stainless steel fabrications, as well as in pneumatics and AC motor control.

British Federal Ltd. Sep 84-Jun 89

Design Dept.: I worked on the design and detailing of complex special purpose machines for the automotive industry. Projects included the Ford Transit, Rover LM10, R200/ACCLAIM and the 5 door Metro.
