2002 - 2007 THE ENGINEERING LINK / AEA TECHNOLOGY RAIL / DELTA RAIL

Responsible for the design and tendering of railway depot M & E such as fuel supplies, wheel lathes and vehicle wash plants. This work included Project Management and consultancy support to various clients within the rail industry.

Responsible for the Engineering Acceptance works against Group Standards of all types of Road Rail vehicles, Rail mounted maintenance machines and on Track

Machines, on behalf of RSSB Approves signatory. Also Network Rail approved

Plant Acceptance Body signatory for Portable plant covered by GM/RT 1310.

2000 - 2002 RAILWAY MECHANICAL ENGINEER, GIBB LTD. YORK

Responsible for the tendering and design of railway mechanical and electrical

engineering projects, Including marketing the services of GIBB Rail throughout

the industry.

Project management of various works for Gibb including civil engineering and

M & E engineering projects. Responsible for the design of switch heating, toilet

flushing, refuelling and various other M & E schemes as part of a multi discipline

team. Also provision of consultancy support to various clients on railway

engineering and planning issues.

Assistance to the Civil Engineering Section dealing with operational planning for

the introduction of High Output Ballast Cleaner in various track renewal schemes.

1997 - 2000 RAILWAY DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER, AIRQUICK (NEWARK) LTD

Responsible for developing the Railway Plant Infrastructure Business for the

Airquick Traincare Division.

Responsibilities included Tender submission, Mechanical design and development

from initial concept and site survey to implementation of finished designs on

the customer's premises, to time and budget. Previous works have included complete carriage wash plants, controlled emission toilet systems and various pumped fluid and compressed air systems. Other responsibilities include the day to day running of the railway plant failure fault service provided to Network Rails major maintenance contractors. Ensuring fault response times are achieved and faults repaired economically on Specialist plant.

1994 - 1997 PROJECT ENGINEER, JAMES SCOTT (BPE) LTD DONCASTER

Provided Project Management, Project Engineering Services, Mechanical and

Electrical Engineering consultancy support to clients. Developed designs and

technical specifications, processed procurement, programmed and managed

contractors works, commissioned and handed over plant projects meeting current

safety legislation, technical and quality standards.

Produced design specifications and acted as site engineer on schemes as diverse

as modernisation of swing bridges and funicular railways, also carried out

Engineering Supervisor and COSS duties on several of these schemes.

Acted as Site Manager for Network Rail at Cambridge carriage wash facility

overseeing Sub contractors technical, quality and safety standards.

Directed the design of major depot new works infrastructure projects including

train washing plants, controlled emission toilets and water supply schemes.

Acted as lead manager co-ordinating the interface between the various engineering

disciplines involved in construction of railway depots.

Supported the project manager with financial and physical progress reports and

deputised with the supervision and co ordination of team project engineers as

necessary.

Carried out Build conformance and testing visits to confirm compliance with

Railway Group Standards of Road Rail Vehicles on behalf of the RSSB approved

Signatory.

1992 - 1994 PROJECT ENGINEER, INTERCITY - PLANT ENGINEERING.

Projected managed various New Works infrastructure schemes from feasibility and

initial design concept through to implementation, working to current safety,

technical and quality standards.

Assisted in the development of departmental quality procedures in accordance

with ISO 9001

Project engineered many schemes from design to installation including provision

of overhead crane for Wembley depot. Carriage wash plants including Salisbury the first to incorporate full water recycling. Provided self propelled water bowsers for Kings Cross.

Purchased a Unimog road rail vehicle for overhead line work to an Overhead line

installation contractor from production of the design specification to acceptance of

the vehicle for use on British Rail infrastructure.

1992 - 1990 ENGINEERING ASSISTANT, BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD

PLANT ENGINEERING GROUP, DONCASTER

Various posts within the New Works Group.

Designing and installing plant, including work on underfloor wheel lathes

at various locations. Controlled emission toilet servicing facilities and engine

and gearbox removal equipment for class 140 and 150 diesel multiple units.

1989 - 1990 RESIDENT ENGINEER, BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD RFS DONCASTER

Acted as resident engineer for B.R.B within RFS Doncaster works.

managing and controlling the contract overhaul of rolling stock to specification.

1987 - 1989 TEST ENGINEER (FUEL SYSTEMS) BRML DONCASTER

Responsible for the overhaul, repair, testing and calibration of locomotive fuel

systems including injectors pumps and engine governors.

1984 - 1987 MECANICAL FITTER, BREL DONCASTER

Responsible for maintenance overhaul and repair of diesel and electric

locomotives. Also maintenance of the workshop equipment with the works.
