I have been working on Engineering Projects and exploration drilling in the oil and gas industry for the last 15 years

Recently working for Dolphin Drilling AS, I have been the Project Document Controller responsible on 2 projects, Blackford Dolphin Upgrade based at Keppel Verolme shipyard in Rotterdam recruiting a team of 3 people and currently on the Bredford Dolphin RS and Upgrade in Gdansk, Poland

As well as document control my expertise is as a materials controller / buyer mainly concerned with exploration drilling although I have been also involved with production platforms

WORK EXPERIENCE

June 2006 - todate

DOLPHIN DRILLING AS

POSITION: PROJECT DOCUMENT CONTROLLER

PROJECT : Bredford Dolphin Renewal Survey and Upgrade 2006

The rigs 5 year maintenance survey and to upgrade the rig to work in the Norwegian sector

I was seconded from the Blackford Dolphin to organise the set up of document control for the Bredford Dolphin RS and Upgrade Project, October 2006 in Gdansk, Poland due to the rig moving from Belfast, Harland & Wolff mid contract

Project document controller with one other document controller on the project, responsible for collating all documentation from H&W for the hand over to Gdansk

Initially advising all suppliers of the change and initiate all new documentation to be directed to myself on the project. Mainly from NOV for new drilling equipment, MI Swaco for shakers, Maritime Systems for all electrical renewal and the build of a new accommodation unit from Harland and Wolff. Many other contractors as well as for the SIMPP from Aker Kvaerner and documentation for the rigs 5 year renewal maintenance survey

All documentation is electronic handled on the Dolphin ProArc Management System

Responsible for collating all new drawings / documentation from the Remontowa shipyard who are involved in most of the fabrication, setting up an engineering interdiscipline check with a 5 day turnaround for commented documents, for the issue of new revisions

Responsible for collating with DNV for all DNV stamped approved drawings

Responsible for all "As Built" packages to be checked and archived into ProArc using Dolphin Drilling Procedures and to provide updated documentation for the rig on project completion

PROJECT : Blackford Dolphin ( ex Ocean Liberator) complete upgrade

As Project Document Controller, recruiting a team of 3 others I was responsible for the start up of the Project in Keppel Verolme shipyard in Rotterdam..

Responsible for the set up of the project and the training of staff to use the Dolphin ProArc Management System

Responsible for setting up the trail of documentation from vendors collating Supplier Document lists, including receiving drawings from the Keppel FELS website in Singapore

Responsible for setting up the flow of documentation from the Keppel Verolme shipyard who were involved in most of the fabrication

PETROFAC MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (amalgamated from Lundin Britain)

POSITION : SENIOR DOCUMENT CONTROLLER

Heather and Thistle Platforms and Broom Project

Responsible for all documentation related to Heather and Thistle Platforms, contributing to the development and implementation of all necessary procedures

Ensure all documents and drawings received or created are properly controlled and maintained within master records. Tasked to categorise drawings from both platforms and organise controlled copy distribution of all category 1 drawings, then to be entered into Meridian

Ensure all requests for documentation from the engineers is closed out correctly and in an expedient manner

Assist Engineers to use the electronic document control database to request drawings

Responsible for the deliverable of the Broom Project, Phases 1 and 2 from Lundin Britain

Receipt of distribution and registration of all associated documentation including vendor operations from Kvaerner, KBR and Subsea 7 to then be entered and used on Meridian

Archiving and retrieval of data and documentation as required, updating database

Using initiative and knowledge to help improve the Document Control team promoting ideas to improve the document management system.

LUNDIN BRITAIN LIMITED

POSITION: DOCUMENT CONTROLLER

PROJECT: Broom Development, Subsea Pipelines - Heather Platform Tie Back

As sole document controller on this project, responsible for the setting up of all document control issues i.e. setting up a completely new Document Management System to be used for the project iucluding setting up all new Policies and Procedures, distribution matrices to distribute electronic / hard copy documentation to engineers as appropriate. Also reporting of late documentation weekly

Communicating with the 3 main contractors - KBR, Kvaerner and Subsea7 and all their supply vendors to ensure contractors utilise all document control procedures

Developing and maintaining accurate registers and spreadsheets including an electronic filing system of all technical documentation and drawings in their latest revisions produced by the vendor and making all information available

Preparation of document close out of project

KCA DEUTAG LIMITED (August 2000 - May 2003)

KCAD DEUTAG LIMITED, SUTTON, SURREY

POSITION: DOCUMENT CONTROLLER (short time as holiday relief)

PROJECT: BP Central Azuri (for KBR )

Document Controller on this project just for a few weeks due to holiday relief ensuring Policies and Procedures of design drawings, registration, filing and distribution of all KCAD developed Engineering Documentation was carried out

KCA DEUTAG LIMITED, HOUSTON on ORLAN 1, SAKHALIN PROJECT

POSITION: DOCUMENT CONTROL SUPERVISOR

PROJECT: KCAD engineering design of a platform set on a barge to work off Sakhalin Island, East of Russia, (the client being EXXON MOBIL the build the responsibility of HYUNDAI HEAVY INDUSTRIES, based in South Korea).

As Document Control Supervisor responsible for setting up a team with 6 other controllers taking responsibility to inform them of all procedures on the project allocating responsibilities to each in order to work together efficiently as a team in order to register, distrubute and file all engineering documents of the project

Responsible for setting up policies and procedures and filing systems in adherence with the project Document Management Systems in order to control all engineering and supplier documentation to the project

As Supervisor on the project kept control of all contractor liaison by e.mail and telephone also often involving Company Visits. Also be the center point of In-house liaison with all project engineers and other personnel to identify internal requirements on the project.

As supervisor of document control being familiar with the Project Quality Plan and project procedures, responsibility of being part of audit control. Scheduled Audits taking place to realise that all procedures are being adhered to. Also to identify improvements to procedures and in turn report to the QA Engineer and give feedback to any lessons learnt on the project.

KCA DEUTAG LIMITED, ALTENS, ABERDEEN

POSITION: SENIOR MATERIALS CONTROLLER / PROJECT BUYER

PROJECTS : Providing a procurement and logistics service to BP projects on their North Sea platforms and engineering that ensures procured equipment and materials are delivered to the rig site in a cost effective and timely manner

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Co-ordinating, sourcing and purchasing of engineering project material requirements connected to the BP Platforms.

b) Ensure that all project material requirements ie mechanical, electrical, fabrication and other equipment / services are sourced, priced, purchased and supplied in accordance with Company Management System Procedures

c) Ensure that vendor data requirements are approved and accompanied by a requisition for materials and/or services, completed through the Maisy system to issue purchase orders

d) Responsible for reviewing and understanding the shipping / transport arrangements to the BP Platforms and for timely informing the Shipping and Logistics responsible person of delivery schedule

e) Liaise with the Shipping Co-ordinator to ensure that all equipment is correctly manifested to its location at a suitable time for the project, accompanied by correct data sheets, hazardous goods certificates and test certificates where required

f) Examine goods released from the rig bay area to ensure fitness for purpose

g) Responsible for reviewing inward manifests for offhire of equipment or where relevant put into storage or returned for credit or scrap.

h) Responsible for establishing the location of all equipment and materials for the project and for instructing the warehouse of the location of all items required for shipment

i) Co-ordinate physical stock checks periodically maintaining regular checks on goods receipts and return areas

j) Check and approve invoices in connection with projects, prior to their submission for final approval

k) Update all computer records and files as operational demands require

SEAFORTH MARITIME for TOTALFINAELF EXPLORATION (U.K.) plc

POSITION : LOGISTICS CONTROLLER

co-ordinating logistics of equipment from vendor to Total Platforms and semi - submersible contractors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Assisting the Quay Supervisor in all activities conducted at Total's Marine Base, Torry Quay ensuring that all materials transported by sea are expedited, controlled and documented efficiently.

b) Responsible for day to day co-ordination and cost effective activities at the quayside i.e.hiring of anchor handling, contracted craneage and ordering of road transportation

c) To be fully updated and to be focal point with all cargo activities on an ongoing day to day basis ensuring efficient scheduling utilising the vessels to a maximum

d) Organise efficiently by liaison with contractors for their equipment to be at the quayside to load up the vessel.

e) Ensure road transport is efficiently utilized for backload with emphasis on returning rental equipment direct from the Torry Quay. This includes correct paperwork for drivers, i.e tremcards, dangerous goods certification, and consignment notes for signature and return

f) Administrative esponsibilities including collation of computerised outward sea freight manifests for vessel, customs and Total records.

g) Part of a team providing 24 hour cover at Torry Quay to allow discharge and load of supply vessels to meet business user needs.

h) Update of statistics and records i.e cargo dues

i) Liaison with masters and crew of vessels.

j) Ensure that Company procedures and safety standards are compiled with at all times

TRANSOCEAN OFFSHORE (UK) INC (Nov 1992 - Jan 2000 )

POSITION: MATERIALS CONTROLLER - INTEGRATED SERVICES

SHELL EXPLORATION DRILLING CONTRACTS : to co-ordinate the receipt and dispatch of all materials required for Integrated Services third party rental equipment, together with all inspection and certification

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

a) Inform / discuss equipment requisitions and changes from the rig and dispatch dates with the Integrated Services Offshore Drilling Supervisor

b) Source / purchase material requirements from third party vendors or purchasers.

c) Coordination of purchase orders, manifests and dispatch to arrange for shipment of materials on required dates to the rig.

d) Check for any discrepancies in materials received against requirements and specifications.

e) Liaise with third party vendors to ensure prompt delivery of materials and rental equipment to point of shipping ensuring vendors equipment conforms to Transocean safety and QA policies

f ) Maintain rental equipment list and mud and chemical tracking systems, to account for equipment and additives and length of time on rental by computerised tracking to co-ordinate with the Operations Assistant with awareness of return of equipment to reduce costs.

g) Ensure compliance with Company shipping requirements

h) Keep track of transportation costs i.e. trucking and containerisation monthly costs by keeping spreadsheet of on and off hire to check against invoicing

i) Check returned equipment from the rig against inward manifests and inform rig of any discrepancies

j) Keep Operations Assistant informed of inward returned equipment and give copies of all consignment notes / off hire tickets for the rental tracking spreadsheet

k) Any rental equipment sent to the Transocean warehouse should be off hired immediately by informing the vendor it is ready for collection.

l) Follow up on returned rental equipment failures and billings and report to Logistics Supervisor.

m) Co-ordinate for any equipment needed urgently on the rig by air, by issuing MTO number and instructing vendor

POSITION: OPERATIONS ASSISTANT (Cost Control and personnel co-ordination)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

a) Maintaining daily tracking system by spreadsheet, tracking cost of third party personnel/materials.

b) Preparing final monthly billing for all third party services to Operator also enabling accounts to invoice correctly

c) Checking and approving all third party invoices, querying as necessary

d) Responsible for booking flights for all third party contractor personnel onto the rig.

e) Ensuring that all well data is efficiently recorded and kept up to date, including time-depth curves, timeplan (POB), NPT (downtime), incentive data for bonus payouts.

f) Preparation and compilation of Tenders for new contracts with third party contractors, responding to Tender questions and assisting Incentive Drilling Manager in audit of tenderers using spreadsheets for comparisons and visits to relevant companies.

g) Keep contracts up to date with any additional amendments including renewal of pricing structures for services, ensuring insurance premiums as per contractor are up to date and organising for renewals

POSITION : DEPARTMENTAL SECRETARY

a) Collating information for Monthly and Six Monthly Performance Reviews, e.g tracking boat times to the rigs and prepare slides and graphs to show performance.





b) Responsible for all clerical assignments for the Incentive Drilling Department, including many standard forms and reports which require technical typing skills

c) Ability to also assist Operations Assistant and Senior Drilling Engineer in setting up systems for implementation of Incentive Drilling objectives.

d) All general clerical assignments including many standard letters/forms/reports/spreadsheets as required by the department. Arranging meetings, courses, appointments, travel arrangements. Setting up new technical filing system and keeping it up to date for reference.

e) Ensure efficient office administration procedures are followed in keeping with the Companies Quality Management requirements

f) Covering for switchboard when necessary
